I made my reservation months in advance, only to arrive at the hotel and find out that they did not have any record of my booking. When I contacted customer service, I was informed that my reservation had been flagged for 'additional security checks' and that an email had been sent to me, which went directly to my spam folder. They tried to secure a room for me at the last minute, but the hotel was fully booked due to the high tourist season in Spain. The only solution offered to me was a refund, which left me scrambling to find alternative accommodations at a much higher cost. To make matters worse, the refund that was promised to me within 7-10 working days has yet to be received, despite my multiple follow-up emails.

But, I was a bit surprised when I saw that my credit card was charged right away after I booked. I thought that the deadline to cancel would also be the date they charge for the place. I'm coming from overseas and I still have more than two months before my trip, so it was kind of unexpected and not very convenient to have to pay for everything upfront. It would have been nice if they had been clearer about this policy when I was booking, so I wouldn't have been caught off guard.
