Bespoke two-week holiday in Turkey
My partner and I just got back from an amazing two-week trip to Turkey that we planned through a travel agency. We wanted something customized to what we like and when we could go, so we collaborated with a travel agent to modify an existing tour. We had tons of questions and specific things we wanted, and our agent, Gavin, was super quick and supportive. He made sure to answer all our questions nicely and promptly, ensuring that our trip was perfect for us.
Jordan trip purchase
As someone who travels a lot, I was really looking forward to going to Jordan with this company. But things took a turn for the worse when I tried to get in touch with them because of the conflict in the area. Every time I called, the line was dead and I started to feel frustrated and worried about my safety. Finally, when I did get through, I was surprised to learn that they wouldn't give me a full refund, despite the situation. The customer service rep I talked to was no help at all and didn't even say sorry, which made me feel like they were trying to rip me off. It was a letdown and now I'm not keen on booking with them again. I'd tell others to be careful too.
Personal tour to Alexandria, Egypt
I recently booked a personal tour to Alexandria, Egypt with this company, and I have to say, I was really disappointed with the whole experience. When we arrived, they told us there were some changes to the plan, including swapping out our hotels for ones that were less convenient. It was pretty unsettling because we had no idea where we were gonna end up staying and they never gave us a new plan. So, we were left feeling really unsure about what was going on. To top it off, we had asked for a hotel downtown and instead got one outside of town, which wasn't what we had in mind at all for our trip.
Vietnam Family Holiday
The booking process went smoothly with the company, and I was really impressed by their professionalism. But, the actual tour experience left a lot to be desired. The itinerary was all over the place and seemed really outdated, which made things confusing and inconvenient. For example, during the Halong Bay Cruise, the itinerary we got was totally different from what we saw on the company's website before the trip. When we asked about it, we found out it hadn't been updated since 2015 because of some government changes. This lack of up-to-date info made the whole experience pretty underwhelming. On top of that, our tour leader up North wasn't very reliable or helpful, giving us wrong info and leaving us stuck at a train station without much help. The activities were poorly planned, cramming too much into one day and not enough into others, which meant we had a lot of downtime we didn't need. The descriptions of the tours were also misleading, making it hard to manage our time effectively during the trip.
Jordan Explorer Package
Our experience with the Jordan Explorer package through ENCOUNTERS TRAVEL was honestly a letdown. We had some pretty last-minute changes to our hotel accommodations that ended up being a major downgrade. The air conditioning on our coach was on the fritz, and to top it off, our tour group was way too big. Our tour leader didn't really do much to address any of the issues that popped up. Plus, the different levels of accommodation caused a lot of wasted time with all the pick-ups and drop-offs. We were promised places like the Amman International and Petra Guest House, but we ended up with spots like the Sulaf Luxury Hotel and Petra Sella Hotel instead, which were definitely not up to par. The long bus rides in uncomfortable weather were draining, especially with more people than recommended in our group. We tried talking to the local agents about our concerns, but unfortunately our tour guide wasn't much help in finding solutions. Between the late pick-ups, subpar vehicles in Wadi Rum, and poor communication from our guide, we were left feeling pretty let down overall. It just didn't meet our expectations and we were all pretty disappointed and frustrated by the end of it all.
Bad tour experience
I wouldn't recommend using this tour company - they really dropped the ball and lost my trust. I had to pay for the tour twice because they claimed their partner had taken off with the money just before my trip. Such a sketchy situation.
