Booking travel tour
Eh, so I booked a travel tour and then had to cancel right away, and they wouldn't give back my deposit! Like, seriously, I called minutes after booking and they still said no! I'm definitely not gonna use them again or tell my friends to use them, eh.
Ireland Tour
So, we had three tour directors and two drivers in the first 6 days of our trip. The first director was a bit of a letdown - not very helpful, gave wrong information, and was pretty unprofessional by oversharing personal details like who they hooked up with at a rest stop. It took forever and multiple asks before he finally gave us his phone number. And, he didn't really try to help everyone on the bus get to know each other, so we ended up in little cliques without mingling much.
Then, there was this sick couple on the tour who didn't do much to stop their germs spread, and when they asked for medical help, the director didn't really do anything. The accommodations were just okay - mostly 3 star and not always close to the city centers. Some places were pretty dated, too. A bunch of us missed out on optional activities because we were sick, and one got cancelled altogether with no other plans made.
The tour was too big, some stops dragged on too long, and it was just a bit of a mess until the third director, Pat, and the second driver, Hugo, tried to turn things around. They did their best to make a pretty rough tour better, and for that, we're thankful.Insurance and flight upgrade
Trafalgar doesn't seem to care about their customers at all. I shelled out for insurance and an upgrade on my flight to Italy, only to have United downgrade me at the last minute. United has been a complete mess, but I was counting on Trafalgar to come through and make things right. What a joke! They only got a portion of what I paid for my flight, yet they couldn't even be bothered to make sure I was looked after. As a business owner myself, I understand the importance of prioritizing customers, even if it means taking a hit. I've lost thousands because of Trafalgar's lack of attention and they couldn't care less. They won't be getting a single cent from me ever again.
Emergency trip cancellation
I had to cancel my trip last minute because of a family emergency. I had to take care of a kid right away. I tried really hard to change the plans, but in the end, I lost all the money I spent on the trip. It was so upsetting and turned my dream trip into a total disaster.
Tour in Milan
The tour in Milan was pretty good, but there were some things that could have been better. The hotel we stayed at was okay, but it didn't have as many extras as some of the other hotels on the tour. Even though the trip was short, we got to see a lot of cool stuff on the itinerary. And the coaches we rode in were always nice and cozy.
Exciting Greece tour
The tour of Greece was just amazing. Our guides Moraig and Dimitri were absolutely incredible, giving us top-notch service the whole time. They really paid attention to all the little details and made sure we had an amazing trip. Everything was well-planned, with lots of fun things to do, and definitely worth the cost. The local experts were so knowledgeable and enthusiastic about Greece, making our tour the ultimate Greek adventure.
Canadian Rockies Trip with Glacier Park Option
I went on a trip to the Canadian Rockies with the Glacier Park option, eh, and I gotta say, I was pretty let down by the whole thing. At first, we were supposed to be stayin' in a hotel right in the park, but a few weeks before the tour, they up and moved us to another hotel outside the park. The new place was alright, but I didn't fork out extra cash to stay in another old Hilton. I was not happy about that switcheroo, no way.
Best of Italy Tour for 13 days
The Best of Italy Tour for 13 days actually ended up being only 12 days long, which was a bit disappointing. This was my second time going on a Trafalgar tour, and just like my first one in Egypt, it was not a great experience. I had a hard time understanding the travel director because they spoke too quickly and unclearly. The bus driver, Theo, was not very nice and seemed unfriendly. The travel director kept trying to sell us expensive extra excursions, which were way pricier than if we booked them ourselves. The food was okay, the hotels weren't that great, and we spent a lot of time on the bus each day listening to the tour director talk about optional excursions that I couldn't even make out. The pre-paid gratuities ended up being a waste because neither the driver nor the travel director seemed appreciative. Overall, I won't be booking another Trafalgar tour in the future.
Group tour experience
My group tour with Trafalgar wasn't the best because of the tour director. Tour Director Maja was really rude and made the trip not so great. I wouldn't suggest Trafalgar if Maja is in charge.
Italy trip review
My recent trip to Italy with Trafalgar was even better than I imagined. Our tour guide, Juliet, was amazing and super knowledgeable, which really made the whole experience special. The places we stayed at were all top-notch, from fancy to really nice to pretty good. The food they served us was always delicious, especially this one dinner we had in the beautiful Tuscany Hills that I won't forget. The bus we rode in was super comfy and clean, making the journey smooth and enjoyable. I've traveled with another company that starts with a "G" before, but Trafalgar totally blew them out of the water. This was my second trip with Trafalgar, and I can't wait to go on more in the future.
Italy tour, disappointing accommodations and itinerary changes
The Trafalgar tour of Italy that my partner and I booked turned out to be a major disappointment. We were so excited for the Best of Italy tour and had planned it well in advance, but when we arrived, it was a different story. The hotels we were given were not the ones we saw on the website - they were far from the city centers and not up to par. From the broken air conditioning to the slow toilets, it was a rough stay. Our visit to Florence was cut short, too. When we asked about the changes, all we got was the company saying they could do what they want. It felt like they were more focused on pushing pricey add-ons rather than giving us a great experience. Without those extras, it felt like we were just paying for a place to sleep and a ride around.
South American trip
Let me tell you, this trip to South America was such a disappointment. The guides were hard to understand, the buses were dirty, and that bus ride was way too risky for my liking. The schedule was so boring, there was hardly anything fun to do. Peru was okay, but Chile and Brazil were just not great. The only reason Argentina wasn't terrible was because we've been to Buenos Aires a few times. The guide in Bariloche was as boring as can be. I've taken trips with this company before, but this one was lacking in every way. What really bothered me was that after I wrote a detailed review pointing out all the issues, no one even said sorry or tried to fix anything. That's why I'm writing this review now.
Japan tour cancellation
My experience with this tour company was absolutely terrible. My husband and I were all set for the Splendors of Japan Tour, but unfortunately, he had a medical issue and we had to cancel our trip. We gave them a generous 3 months notice, but getting any sort of refund was a complete nightmare. We had to send so many emails and make countless phone calls just to get a partial refund. The service we got was just terrible. It felt like nobody at the company knew what was happening, and we were constantly being passed around from one person to another. The communication was almost nonexistent, with most of our emails getting automated replies that didn't really help at all. When we finally did get to talk to someone, they were no help at all and seemed completely clueless. It seemed like they were just saying things to appease us and didn't actually care at all about our situation. We were also really surprised to find out that there was a penalty for cancelling three months in advance, something that we were never told about when we booked the tour. Overall, it was a horrible experience and I would never recommend this tour company to anyone.
Optional tours, schedule changes, high cost, disappointing experience
My recent tour experience with Trafalgar was extremely disappointing, eh? I thought they were always trying to sell us these optional tours for over 800 USD each, which seemed like they just wanted to make more money, eh. The schedule kept changing to fit in these optional tours, leaving those of us who didn't want to go with nothing to do for hours. I ended up either sitting in a cold waiting area or getting back to the hotel early, feeling like I wasn't getting my money's worth, eh. On top of that, I was paying a lot per day just to sit on buses for long periods with not much actual touring going on, eh.
Best of Scotland tour
I recently went on a guided tour of Scotland, and let me tell you, it was the best travel experience I've ever had. Our tour guide was amazing, making sure we had a jam-packed schedule full of different activities every day. Plus, our driver was top-notch, reliable and skilled, making the trip even more enjoyable. Despite a few unexpected hiccups like lost luggage and a guest getting injured, the tour company really stepped up to make sure everyone was okay and having a great time. The group vibe was super positive, and we all had a blast together, even throwing in some extra experiences along the way.
Tour experience disappointment
The tour I went on recently with a tour company was a real letdown. They advertised a fancy luxury coach on their brochures, but let me tell you, it was nowhere near as comfy as they made it out to be, especially for us older folks. The ventilation on that bus was terrible, and it didn't take long for everyone to start feeling sick. Even though we were all wearing masks and being careful, I ended up getting a positive Covid-19 test the day after the tour, which totally ruined my family get-together in London. And then, a few days later, my 83-year-old hubby got sick too. When I tried reaching out to the tour company on social media, all I got back were these generic responses that made it clear they didn't really care about what happened. It's a shame, because some digging around showed that this wasn't the first time they'd messed up like this on their tours, which seems like a pretty big problem to me.
Imperial Europe tour
My experience with Trafalgar's Imperial Europe tour was pretty disappointing, eh? There wasn't much info given about bus travel times and we didn't get much time to really check out each city on our own. The schedule was so vague and those morning city tours weren't all that great, to be honest. I feel like we missed out on some cool stuff that a more personal guide could have shown us. Plus, a bunch of folks on the bus got hit with COVID and they didn't really do much to stop it from spreading. It was a real bummer when they cancelled that extra tour we were looking forward to. And we were always rushing from one city to the next, barely had any time to do our own thing.
Northern Spain tour experience
My recent trip to Northern Spain with this tour company was pretty disappointing. Despite staying at some nice hotels and eating good food, I wasn't too happy with the overall experience. The tour director had us rushing around so much that we couldn't really enjoy the places we visited. We barely had any time to explore, take photos, or even go to the bathroom. It felt like we were always in a hurry and it was tiring. I felt pressured to keep up with the group, and it felt more like a competition than a relaxing holiday. Even though there was plenty of wine, I just wanted more time and freedom to really soak in the culture and beauty of Northern Spain. I was honestly relieved when the tour was finally over.
Recent 12-day European whirlwind tour
I just finished up this exhausting 12-day whirlwind tour of Europe and man, let me tell you, I will never do another one like this again. Our tour guide, Caroline, she was something else. She kept talking down to us, being all rude and making us feel small. I had told them about my special diet when I signed up, but I had to keep on asking for dairy and meat free options. The optional stuff they offered? It didn't feel very optional, Caroline pretty much forced us to do them, which made me feel really awkward and trapped. There were a couple things I didn't want to do, I just wanted to go off and explore on my own, but Caroline just shot me down and made me feel like I had no say in the matter.
And then, it gets even worse. Apparently the rules said we should only tip if we were happy with the service. But get this, me and my cousin had already paid for our right home at the end of the trip, yet Caroline still made us fork over more cash before she let us on the bus to the airport. Honestly, the only good thing about this whole experience was the cool folks I met on the trip. But otherwise? I was just patiently waiting for the clock to finally run out on this tour.
