Not the backup I expected

one was a shared-bath situation, no heating despite the cold, and the front desk staff seemed overwhelmed and struggled with basic communication. They left almost immediately — they didn’t sign in, they wouldn’t sleep there, understandably. That’s where the delivery failure happened: paid rooms, no room delivered. What really disappointed me was the platform’s response. We opened a case with Booking, uploaded photos, messages, everything. The reply was basically “we can’t offer compensation.” No attempt to mediate, no pressure on the hotel to make it right, nothing. So the provider keeps the money and the customer is left sorting it out. I get that small businesses have rules, but if you’re a booking platform, your whole job is to make sure the product — the room, the stay — actually gets delivered or that someone stands behind it. Here, that didn’t happen. I’m sharing this because I recommended the site to my sister and a coworker last year; I’ll be more cautious now. Emotionally, it sucked — annoying and honestly a bit helpless. Practical takeaway: if delivery and decent customer service matter to you, don’t assume a big name equals protection. Check policies closely, and maybe use a service with clearer dispute support. I’ll still travel, but I won’t rely on passive protection next time.

Trip booking issues in Spain

During our road trip in Spain, we ran into some issues with booking online. Out of 8 bookings, 3 messed up. Two hotel bookings got cancelled out of nowhere, leaving us clueless. Luckily, we managed to save one reservation and booked an apartment instead. Another time, we had trouble with a car rental. Even though we paid in advance, we waited at the rental spot for 2 hours because the platform couldn't sort out a replacement. It sucked because we wasted time waiting for them to fix it.

I had a lousy experience with my recent booking on this platform, eh. The listing was all wrong and not accurate, and when I tried to give a bad review, it got pushed down by older good ones. It seems like they care more about positive feedback than real customer stories. Plus, there were obviously fake reviews from sellers that they didn't take down even after they were reported. It's just too bad that Booking doesn't own up to these misleading practices, eh.
