Recent rental experience
I had a really bad time with a car rental company not long ago. I went online to book a car, but when I got to the counter, they wouldn't let me take it because of some problem with my driver's license. I tried reaching out to customer service, but they didn't help at all. It seemed like the company and their partner were trying to deceive me.
Car rental experience
I had a pretty rough time with a car rental company I've been using for over 7 years. I reserved a car for a 15-day trip in April 2024, just like I've done many times before. But when I got to the rental place, they wouldn't give me a car because I was using a debit card for the deposit. This was a total surprise and left me and my girlfriend stranded, messing up our holiday plans. When I tried to get a refund, they wouldn't give it to me and instead blamed me, their loyal customer. I ended up having to pay for 3 days of rental from the company that turned me away, feeling pretty let down and frustrated. I think car rental companies should only be listed on platforms if they accept all major card payment methods, which this company clearly didn't follow. After this bad experience, I've decided to close my account with them and go with a different service for my rentals in the future.
Car rental experience at a major airport
My recent experience with renting a car at a big airport was not so great. It was a lot more complicated than I expected, and the extra fees surprised me. I reserved a car to pick up at the airport, but when I got there, the rental company was really pushy about trying to sell me more insurance and charging extra for being at the airport. So, in the end, I ended up paying way more than I thought I would. When I asked for help from the rental company, they weren't very helpful at all and just said that everything was in the papers I signed. It was really frustrating and disappointing overall.
Unreliable service
I had a horrible experience with this company. I booked a car with them, but when I showed up at the rental spot, they didn't have the car because of "personal issues". Even though I didn't get the service I paid for, Rentalcars wouldn't give me my money back. It's not cool to keep the payment for something I didn't get. I'm never using their services again.

Accident during rental in Scotland
I rented a car in Scotland with this company and had an accident on the first day. They blamed me for the accident and didn't give me another car or refund for the rest of the days. I reached out to them and after some back and forth, they did reimburse me for the days we missed with the car. Overall, they ended up providing great service!
Rental car booking issue
I had a bad experience with a car rental booking through a third-party service. I gave them my flight information and arrival time, but when I got to the rental agency, it was closed. Even though I checked in before and confirmed my details, I couldn't reach anyone for help. So, I had to book another car at midnight, which ruined part of my vacation. Rental cars and Surprice - Heathrow UK
So, like, I was trying to get this full protection cover insurance thing from Rental Cars, you know? And then I went to pick up my rental from Surprice at Heathrow UK, and they were all like "Nope, we don't take that insurance." I mean, seriously? I had to fork out for a whole new policy that ended up costing me a fortune before they handed over the car. Not cool at all, man! And when I tried to make a complaint, nobody gave a darn. Such a letdown, dude!
Easy rental in Japan
We rented a car in Japan and it was super easy! It made getting around a breeze, especially since we didn't speak the language. The whole process was quick and straightforward. We'd definitely recommend it to anyone traveling to a foreign country!
Credit card issues
We rented a car but our credit card wouldn't go through. The guy was nice and let us cancel. Went to another rental place at Nis Airport and card worked fine. Showed them we put a 1200 Euro deposit on the same card elsewhere, they said we'd get our money back. But when we talked to customer service, they were no help at all. Definitely won't be going back there again!

Dealing with their automated responses was so annoying, nothing they said was even related to what I was asking. I always used to rent cars from Rental Cars, but now I'm finding the insurance options so overwhelming. It used to be straightforward, but now there are too many options and I can't figure out which one is right for me. I booked a car with child car seats for the 19th of May 2024
They were saying that the insurance was only for their own Autosistem car seats, not mine. Plus, they hiked up the price of the car seats on the bill from 76.80 to 119.00 euros. And to make matters worse, nobody even bothered to install the car seats in my car, and they refused to take any responsibility for it.
Confusing pick up no help, extra insurance taken
It was seriously frustrating trying to find that stupid shuttle bus! And then we had to get extra insurance at the car rental place, not cool at all, man.
Overpriced rental with bad service
I had a really bad time with this rental company that someone recommended through a broker. They tried to rip me off a few times, and I ended up shelling out more money for things I didn't need. The broker actually sided with the rental company's sketchy ways, which was pretty disappointing. I'd say stay away from this broker if you want things to go smoothly.
Booked car for 6 days
Hey folks, so I rented a car for 6 days with Rental Cars. Unfortunately, I lost my physical driver's license and could only show them a photo and digital version. So when I got to Italy to pick up the car, they couldn't give it to me because of the rules. It's a bit disappointing, but hey, rules are rules.
The really frustrating part is that Rental Cars only gave me back 10% of what I paid, and kept the rest without any explanation or giving me the car. It feels pretty unfair and sneaky, so I definitely won't be using them again. I recommend checking out a different rental provider for your next trip. I used my debit card to buy a car but got scammed because they only accept physical credit cards, not virtual ones like Apple wallet. Now I'm broke and without a car.

I had a similar experience as others where I had to pay extra when picking up the car in Podgorica. The staff couldn't speak English and didn't explain why I had to pay more, which was frustrating. After many tries, I finally contacted someone from Rental Cars and discovered that the local agent had charged me for local insurance, costing me 577 euros. While Rental Cars offered to refund 80 euros for the insurance I bought through them, I think they should refund the whole amount because they work with dishonest local agents. Lesson learned - I won't use Rental Cars or booking.com for car rentals again.
