Brunch-gloss reality check

Returns & Refunds

I figured a glossy pout would finish the brunch look. I bought a few of ELF's Lip Gloss Lacquer (shade 20) and went to an all-women brunch. I had doubts — sticky glosses have ruined my coffee cups before — and I warned my friend who has a peanut allergy. First swipe was heavy. It sat on my lips like a film. It looked photos-ready, and the colour lasted longer than I expected, a pleasant surprise. But the stickiness and weight never left and it felt uncomfortable. They came company-sealed, so I tried to return. ELF refused. So, watch for peanut oil and know returns might be a hassle. I can't recommend it.

Almost walked away, glad I didn’t

Communication

I was scrolling over coffee when a buddy sent the link and honestly I almost ignored it — had a bunch of red flags in my head. After ordering I noticed my card was charged twice and the tracking went all weird (said delivered, I had nothing). Their site even didn’t show my order for a bit, weird. I messaged support a few times; first they said “give it 48 hours” and then went quiet. I pushed a bit more, called, and eventually they refunded the extra charge and re-sent the item. It arrived late but intact, and the second time their communication was better (finally). Still annoyed by the runaround, but the product and price were fine. So yeah, skeptical at first, ended up satisfied enough to keep it — just be ready to follow up.

A glow that made me a convert (mostly)

Product

the ELF Halo Glow liquid looked like a foundation but felt more... like a skin booster. I used it under powder and also one night just to see what happened, and weirdly my face actually looked better after I washed it off — more alive, not greasy. My skin is dry and acne-prone, so I went in braced for breakouts. Didn’t happen. If anything it kept things from flaking and gave that dewy look without making me oily. I did nerd out and read the ingredients later; there’s legit skincare stuff in there, which explains it. I told a friend about it and she ordered the skin line because of my before/after photos. Now the not-so-great: ordering online took a couple days to even ship, which felt slow, and stock seems to run out sometimes. They do have express shipping though, so that helps when you need it quick. Overall I was skeptical at first and ended up pleasantly surprised — not perfect, but solid value for what it does.

A small, honest win

Product

the makeup remover balm that actually melts things off, the brushes that aren’t flimsy, the lip stains that don’t ghost after a coffee. I’m grateful that something simple works without fuss. I’m writing from Delaware, by the way, in case that’s useful, and I’ll keep telling people about it — my daughter already shops for me sometimes. Also, I should add the lip glosses give a nice sheen without being sticky, which matters when you’re talking and sipping tea. So thanks to the team for making things accessible and not overcomplicated; keep doing that.

Beauty products

Service

I had a bad experience with the customer service from this company. When I got my beauty products order, I noticed that a lot of items were missing. I tried to get help from customer service, but they took a long time to reply and didn't follow through on fixing the problem like they said they would. I tried to keep talking to them, but it didn't help, and I never got the products I wanted. Mistakes happen, but this company not taking responsibility for their actions is not right.

2 out of 3 items delivered

Service

I'm really let down by this company for not getting back to me about the missing item from my order. I sent them a bunch of emails, but haven't heard anything back or got the problem fixed. It's not cool to ignore customers like that, so I won't be buying from them online anymore.

Satin foundation allergic reaction

Product

I bought this satin foundation and had a bad allergic reaction to it. My skin got all itchy, red, and kind of scaly, with puffiness under my eyes. I contacted the company to find out what ingredient I might be allergic to and asked for a refund. It's a good idea to be careful with new products because you never know how your skin will respond.

E-gift card issue

Service

I bought an e-gift card for my daughter, but when she tried to use it, the balance disappeared mysteriously before she could finish her order. I emailed customer service, but they replied dismissively and said they couldn't see any orders on the card. So I decided to call instead, and the representative I talked to seemed tired and not really interested. They promised to call me back, but they never did. It's been a week, my daughter still hasn't gotten her order, and I'm out of money. It's pretty clear that this company doesn't really care about its customers, and it's really disappointing.

Unreliable order confirmation

Communication

I recently bought something from this company and I am really not happy with how they are communicating about my order. I haven't got any message confirming that my order is on the way. When I tried to track it on their website, I couldn't find my order number. This is so unprofessional and it's making me frustrated and confused. I tried emailing them but they haven't replied, which just makes me even more disappointed. I really suggest not buying from this company because they are not reliable at all.

Waterproof mascara disappointment

Product

The waterproof mascara from this place is just terrible, eh. It smudges all over the place, no matter what I try. I thought I was being smart by getting the waterproof one, but it seems to be doing the opposite. The mascara always ends up under my eyes and on my eyelids, making me look messy and not so good, eh. I've tried different ways of putting it on and using setting sprays, but nothing seems to help. I wish I didn't spend my money on this product, eh.

Lash serum purchase

Product

I recently bought this lash serum from a company, but my experience wasn't great. After using it for just two days, I woke up with my eyes feeling irritated and red. My right eye especially felt uncomfortable, like something was in it all day. The irritation and soreness didn't go away, and I regretted using the product. I contacted customer service, and they quickly gave me a refund. However, they didn't ask for any details about the product or batch number to look into the issue further. Overall, I wouldn't recommend using this lash serum because it gave me a bad and worrying reaction.

Delayed order

App & Portal

I'm super annoyed right now. I've been trying to order stuff online for four days, but there's a glitch on the website that's stopping me. I phoned customer service TWICE, even tried to speak with a manager but could only leave a voicemail. One rep told me she fixed the problem, but it's still not working. I used to really like this brand for their good dupes, but come on, seriously??

Makeup purchase

Product

I gotta say, I am beyond impressed with the makeup products I bought! Like, from the 16hr concealer to the Halo glow, each one totally blew me away. The 16hr concealer seriously has awesome coverage and actually lasts all day. And don't even get me started on the Halo glow - it gives me this gorgeous dewy look that I just can't get enough of. I can say with confidence that every purchase I've made from this brand has been a total win.

Matte lipsticks

Service

Oh man, let me tell ya, my experience with their customer service was a total nightmare. I had the bad luck of dealing with a really rude manager who didn't seem to know the first thing about professionalism. I swear, the attitude was just unreal. It was like talking to a brick wall, I tell ya. Customer service skills? Ha! More like customer disservice. Hey Barbra, maybe it's time to think about a new career, eh?

cosmetics

Service

I bought some cosmetics from this company and I gotta say, I was really let down by how unresponsive they were. I tried getting in touch with their customer service a bunch of times, but no one ever got back to me or even tried to solve my issues. It's frustrating to see a company not care about its customers like that, it definitely doesn't look good on their part. As someone who knows what I want as a customer, I expect some level of professionalism and good communication from the companies I support. Sadly, that was seriously missing in my interactions with this brand.

4 products ordered in December

Service

I bought 4 things from this company at the beginning of December. When my package finally came after 3 weeks, I noticed one item was missing. I emailed their customer service cause I was worried about some bad reviews, but they got back to me in 3 hours and said they'd ship the missing item. I was impressed by how fast and nice they were. If you have a problem with your order, send them an email.

Makeup purchase

Product

So I bought some makeup from this company the other day, and honestly, I wasn't too happy with it. The ads they have are really off-putting and don't make me want to buy their stuff at all. Plus, I went and looked into it a bit more, and turns out their products might not even be as vegan as they say. Just a heads up for any parents out there - keep an eye on what your kids are buying!

Recent makeup purchase

App & Portal

The website was brutal to use, so slow and kept freezing. And then they went and changed the names of the colours without telling anyone, like what even? Customer service is a joke, couldn't even use my discount code for two whole days and not a peep from them. So let down, definitely not giving them my business again.

Late delivery, lack of communication

Delivery

I had a really bad customer service experience! My package arrived more than a week late, and when I reached out to them, they just told me to keep waiting before they would think about it being lost during shipping. There wasn't even a sorry for the delay! It was so annoying and let-down, to be honest. After a bunch of emails, my package finally showed up a few days later. It's not all their fault, but they did pick that delivery company that's not very reliable. I definitely won't be ordering from them again anytime soon.

Holy Hydration Cleansing Balm

Product

I just bought the Holy Hydration Cleansing Balm and I have to say, it's amazing! I have eczema and it's always hard to find a face wash or balm that doesn't make my skin all irritated. This one didn't bother my eczema at all and it made my skin feel so clean and refreshed. Plus, the smell is nice and not too strong, which is great for me. I totally suggest this product to anyone who wants a good and gentle cleansing balm.
