Drips, lifts and an attitude
Drips, lifts and an attitude
On-siteI showed up thinking Paris charm, ended up with a slow elevator and a drip into my suitcase — renovation I hadn't been told about. No one warned us, so the hotel didn't deliver on a quiet stay. Check-in staff were brusque; I was ready to write them off. Later the manager sorted laundry and moved us to a quieter room, so not a total disaster. If you care about decent service, ask lots of questions first — I've been burned elsewhere, but this got a small redemption.
Breakfast and a missing bag
Breakfast and a missing bag
On-siteWe were halfway through breakfast when I noticed my husband looking towards the front desk, puzzled. We’d only been in Hannover for one night, just to do some hospital check-ups, and in the morning the desk clerk pointed out the hotel restaurant and said, sure, leave your bag with me at reception. That felt normal, like something any decent hotel would do. We ate for maybe half an hour, asked for a taxi and to get our luggage, and suddenly the receptionist says they can't find it. The police did come and reviewed the cameras, which I’m grateful for — someone took it seriously. The footage showed a man waiting outside, coming in with his phone and walking off with our bag while we were eating. It’s upsetting, but we’re thankful nobody was hurt and that the police looked into it.
That lobby hit
That lobby hit
On-siteI was in town for a short work trip and juggling meetings and walks around Salamanca, so I kind of expected hotel hustle — but I didn’t expect to have to plan my whole stay around a scent. The minute we walked in the lobby my husband started coughing and had real trouble breathing; that horrible pause when you wonder if you should go outside right away. The weird part was the tiny relief we felt later, when we finally got up to our room and opened a window — that’s the moment I knew we could relax a bit, yes, even if it shouldn’t have been that hard. We asked staff to turn the diffuser down, they said it was required, so we just avoided the lobby as much as possible. Frustrating, a bit worrying, but the room itself did help in the end.
