The overnight buses in Vietnam are really comfy, you can lie down flat, they have their own light, power outlet, curtains for some privacy, air conditioning, and they even give you free bottled water. The only annoying thing is the driver honking the horn a lot, but that's just how things are here. Don't forget to take off your shoes before you hop on the bus. I recently hopped on a coach bus from Phuket to Khao Lak and it was so easy-peasy. The bus terminal in Phuket was a breeze to get around, and once I found counter 22, the staff were quick in handing over my paper tickets. The bus driver and assistant were super nice and helpful, especially in making sure our big backpacks were stored safely before we took off. The bus ride itself was comfy with air conditioning, and the whole trip lasted about 2 hours. Once we got to Khao Lak, the bus assistant announced our stop, making it a piece of cake to get off and grab our bags. All in all, it was a smooth and budget-friendly way to get from one place to the other.

My experience buying an overnight bus ticket was so disappointing. I picked a ticket for a bus with a toilet, but got a voucher for a normal mini bus with none of the things I thought I was getting. When I talked to customer service about the wrong info, they just brushed it off as "cultural differences" and didn't do anything to fix it.
