O'Reilly also hosted conferences and summits as it helped them in gaining recognition. In 1997, O'Reilly launched The Perl Conference to raise the profile of the Perl programming language. In 1998, O'Reilly felt that there was a need to tell a broader story about the role of free software as they invited notable leaders of various free software projects to a meeting. As a result of this meeting, The O'Reilly Open Source Convenient (OSCON) was established as one of O'Reilly's flagship events.

In 2003, O'Reilly has a cooperate goal of reigniting enthusiasm in the computer industry. Recently, O'Reilly has hosted events like the Velocity Conference, the Software Architecture Conference, the Strata Data Conference, the AI Conference and the invitation-only Foo camp which is a "Friends of O'Reilly" unconference. O'Reilly claims to have produced 19 Conferences across the US, Europe, and Asia.

O'Reilly has a subsidiary called O'Reilly Media which is based in Sebastopol, California. O'Reilly's online learning platforms are said to have millions of users through B2B, consumer, government, and library channels. O'Reilly claims to have customers like Amazon, Google, Netflix, Tesla, and many more giants in the industrial, banking and other sectors. O'Reilly has its headquarters located in Sebastopol, California as well as other firms in Japan, Beijing, UK, Massachusetts, and Boston.
