Weekend ruined by a last-minute cancellation
Weekend ruined by a last-minute cancellation
Cancellationthe person I spoke with was polite. Still, polite words don’t pay for the extra costs or the ruined planning. Disappointed and out of pocket.

Bookingdon’t expect a true "package" — I cancelled and lost money. I booked two full spa days for me and a friend, paid in full, thinking we'd use the facilities and each get an hour massage at the same time. Next day they call and tell me they only have one therapist so both treatments can't happen simultaneously. That surprised me — why sell two spots if they can’t staff them? I rang the broker, Daniel at Spa Seekers; he said he'd check with the Holiday Inn and call back. I missed his first attempt so returned the call, and was offered another location for an extra £40, though he couldn't confirm if we'd be treated together there either. I said that wasn't acceptable, asked to cancel and got told there'd be a £25 cancellation fee. Then he hung up on me. Rude, short, and unhelpful. I've used other booking services before that at least confirmed staffing and timing up front, so this felt sloppy and misleading. I get mistakes happen, but losing money and being brushed off left me annoyed and disappointed. Won't book through them again unless their process improves. I wish they'd been clearer; customer service should match what's advertised. Little things like confirming staff availability would avoid this.
Not the spa weekend we pictured
Not the spa weekend we pictured
On-sitenoisy kids, barely any loungers (I counted seven, and they were all taken), and the steam room wasn’t working. The lack of a jacuzzi hit harder than I expected — it’s that small detail that makes a spa feel like, well, a spa. The sauna was tiny, the pool crowded, so there wasn’t much chance to chill out. Staff were nice though, genuinely friendly, and the treatment room was actually lovely — that part redeemed the day a bit. We ate in the restaurant and the food was surprisingly good, which helped calm the irritation. The room was fine, if you don’t mind looking out at a car park (photos do make it look better). When I complained to the organiser afterwards, getting a 7% discount on a future stay felt a bit tone-deaf; like, thanks, but that doesn’t fix the missing hot tub. Overall I went from sceptical to a tiny bit satisfied thanks to the therapists and dinner, but still disappointed because the main reason we went — full-on spa downtime — just wasn’t there. If you’re after proper spa vibes, check before you book.
