I didn’t expect much when I signed up — a friend actually mentioned this insurer and I checked their site once before the trip, so that’s how I first saw them. Using the policy was... practical, I guess. You submit forms, upload scans, email back and forth, that sort of thing. The portal itself felt clunky and the messages were terse, but you can get documents in. I reported my acute illness the same day I went to hospital, and an agent replied saying they noted it and to submit everything after discharge. They said the claim would take about two weeks. That didn’t happen. It dragged on, almost a year in my case. Eventually they paid $1,000 against a hospital bill of $11,302 — yeah, that number kept me pretty annoyed. What irritated me more was they said the payout was “based on region,” which wasn’t in the policy I read. I pushed back a few times, appealed, sent more files, and they stuck to that amount. So initially I was skeptical, then pretty frustrated, then—oddly—relieved to at least get something. It’s not enough to cover everything, but it offsets a little. The whole process is functional if you have patience and documentation, but expect delays and to question unclear terms. If you want straightforward, full coverage, this might not be it. If you need partial help and can wait, it will eventually move. I’m still critical of the communication and the small payout, but, well, it did finally pay out something — so mixed feelings.
