Sketchy follow-up and random OTPs

Communication

I typed in my card details because I was planning to buy travel insurance. Didn't press the final buy button though — I wanted to check reviews first. That turned out to be a good move. A couple hours later rep called to push the policy. I said no. After that I started getting OTP requests on my phone for charges I never made, big and small. It was weird and unnerving. This was the only place I had used my card all week. Felt sloppy and unsafe. Site's fine to browse, but I won't trust it with my card. Others have been fine, but not me.

Almost didn't, glad I did

Changes

I almost didn't buy this travel insurance after reading a few horror stories. I first saw the policy on a travel blog my sister sent me, and she was like 'get it' — so I did. I was nervous because we had to rebook a flight and there was a baby in our party, so I expected a headache. Turned out the agent walked me through options, explained the rebooking rules, and helped secure a partial credit — not perfect, still a small fee, but way less stress. I'm relieved and actually glad we kept it, would recommend.

Mid-trip doubt

Communication

ear infection, doctor visit, bills and receipts sent off. Oddly, the portal sent an automated confirmation (small relief), but the insurer's name isn't listed at any US hospitals and after they promised "20 business days" it's been past that and emails go unanswered. I still keep it as background protection, but trust? That faded.

That suspiciously low price

Price

odd complaints, little presence in the West, company listed in Ukraine which, fair, is dealing with a lot right now and that adds uncertainty. Trustpilot not showing reviews didn’t help. So yeah, it probably covers small stuff and was handy, but I wouldn’t rely on it for a big trip.

Halfway through, then relieved

Price

Midway through checkout I paused—the page showed Trustpilot 4.9 with a thousand-plus reviews, the payment widget said USD, then switched to Ukrainian hryvnia and the total jumped noticeably. I’ve been burned before by slick-looking sites, so I started expecting the worst. I tried the advertised WhatsApp number and got nothing; their Google summary numbers didn’t line up either. For a moment I was ready to bail. What changed was the human response. I opened live chat and got a real person who walked me through the charges, explained why the currency switch was happening (site defaulting to local currency), and offered to reissue the invoice in Canadian dollars and refund the difference while they investigated the listing inconsistencies. That was the moment I relaxed—they didn’t dodge, they fixed it. They also followed up by email with screenshots of corrected Trustpilot/Google links and a refund confirmation within two business days. Still cautious—I’ve had worse with other insurers—but the way they handled it turned my scepticism into a practical, earned trust. Not perfect, but good enough that I’d use them again. Small hiccup with the initial price display remains, but the outcome felt fair and was documented.

Half-paid, long wait — mixed result

Communication

I didn’t expect much when I signed up — a friend actually mentioned this insurer and I checked their site once before the trip, so that’s how I first saw them. Using the policy was... practical, I guess. You submit forms, upload scans, email back and forth, that sort of thing. The portal itself felt clunky and the messages were terse, but you can get documents in. I reported my acute illness the same day I went to hospital, and an agent replied saying they noted it and to submit everything after discharge. They said the claim would take about two weeks. That didn’t happen. It dragged on, almost a year in my case. Eventually they paid $1,000 against a hospital bill of $11,302 — yeah, that number kept me pretty annoyed. What irritated me more was they said the payout was “based on region,” which wasn’t in the policy I read. I pushed back a few times, appealed, sent more files, and they stuck to that amount. So initially I was skeptical, then pretty frustrated, then—oddly—relieved to at least get something. It’s not enough to cover everything, but it offsets a little. The whole process is functional if you have patience and documentation, but expect delays and to question unclear terms. If you want straightforward, full coverage, this might not be it. If you need partial help and can wait, it will eventually move. I’m still critical of the communication and the small payout, but, well, it did finally pay out something — so mixed feelings.

Slow to trust, fast to deliver

Service

I needed this coverage because of my bad back (didn't want a medical bill while out of town) and because the last insurer ghosted me. At first I was pretty wary, mostly because the company is set up in Ukraine and their terms sounded... broad. I read a clause that basically gave them permission to handle my data in all kinds of ways and, yeah, that made me hesitate. So I called customer service, expecting the usual runaround. Instead I got a real person who explained what they'd actually do with my info, how long documents would arrive, and how claims work if my back flared up while travelling. They were patient, answered the awkward follow-ups I kept asking, and even sent a short summary by mail — which showed up on the date they said. Delivery of the physical docs and the welcome package was smooth, tracking updates were accurate, and a follow-up call a week later felt genuine, not scripted. That moved me from sceptical to mostly satisfied; I still stay cautious about privacy stuff, but the hands-on service and punctual delivery won me over. If you're like me — need coverage because of health, past bad experiences, or a big move — this service gets the practical parts right. Not perfect on the paperwork side (read the terms), and I’d prefer clearer privacy assurances, but for straightforward delivery and solid human customer service they did well. A few small stumbles, sure, but overall I felt taken care of.
