Pricey but still playing
Pricey but still playing
Pricesix bucks for a hundred coins? The horses cost even more, which makes me roll my eyes. I messaged support about something once and got crickets, that was annoying, but the quests and world keep me logging in. My tip: lower the coin packs a tad and actually reply to messages, folks will stay.
Still worth a trot
Still worth a trot
PriceI still recommend this one — it's genuinely fun and relaxing, even if you're careful with cash. I first jumped in about ten years ago and come back now and then; the first time after a break I was hooked again within minutes. Gameplay, atmosphere and the horse models are great, and oddly enough a limited-time pony I tried actually won me over. Yes, the shop is quirky — 100 star coins a week covers small things, but some horses or tack feel overpriced (and I grumbled when I paid $31.99 for a single horse). Still, the overall experience keeps pulling me back.
In-game purchases and pricing
In-game purchases and pricing
PriceI've been playing this online game for a long time now, and I really like it, but I have to talk about the prices. The company charges way too much for stuff you can buy in the game, and it's hard for players, especially kids, to get what they want. Like, a pack of 1,000 virtual coins costs about $40, which is a lot for just some digital money. Also, things like horses in the game are priced so high that you need to spend a lot of time and money to get them. It just makes players feel like they have to spend real money to make progress and enjoy all the cool stuff in the game.
Premium membership
Premium membership
PriceI was pretty stoked to give the premium membership a go, but that feeling didn't last long. The game was cool at the start, but then I saw that to really have a good time and keep the story going, you had to keep dropping cash. It seemed like a constant loop of spending just to move forward. I think it would be better if they tossed in a free horse once you max out your current one, no more money needed. Money as in real money, of course.
