Lone rides and dodgy chat
Lone rides and dodgy chat
Communication
the game feels nice to play most of the time. The horses move smoothly, the world looks cosy in parts, and a quiet evening of exploring with a few friends can actually be relaxing. But then you get dumped back into crowded servers and the in-game conversation is... terrible. Insults, crude language, people pushing for money or worse. It doesn’t feel safe, even though the game is clearly aimed at younger players.
I’ve been playing on and off for years, so I know the mechanics and I really like how riding and customizing work — there’s a tactile satisfaction to unlocking a new saddle or getting a colour combo that looks right. The shop, however, is another story. A lot of nice stuff is locked behind that premium currency and limited-time offers (the FOMO is real), so you end up constantly tempted to spend, or watch your kid nag. The subscription setup also feels stingy: free play stops dead at level 5, which basically means you need to pay to actually see the game.
Reporting players exists but, in my experience, support is hit-or-miss. I’ve waited ages for replies, sometimes months, and when they do respond it’s inconsistent. They can disable chat on an account if you ask, which is useful, but getting that done is not always smooth. The chat filter is there but it’s patchy — it lets a lot through, and on busy servers that’s a real problem.
Gameplay bugs and the occasional server lag get on my nerves too. Nothing catastrophic, but enough to make a couple of sessions feel clunky. Despite all that, I keep hoping they’ll fix the moderation and tone down the aggressive marketing. The world and the riding are actually quite enjoyable when it’s calm, and I’ve had better service from other companies in the past, so my expectations aren’t huge. Bottom line: good feel and potential, but the way the community is handled and how the money stuff is pushed makes me wary of recommending it for kids unless you disable chat and keep a close eye on purchases.
