Unexpected sprint and missing bags

On-site

I found myself actually sprinting through Madrid airport like it was some cheap action movie. I was in 1A on a business fare and managed to catch the connection by a hair — literally a few seconds — after hauling myself across the terminal. It felt surreal, and honestly kind of lucky. That said, the trip wasn’t all thrills. Both flights were delayed even though the connection was already tight, and I kept thinking about folks in the back who couldn’t dash for their lives like I did — older travellers, families, you know. The real punch was luggage: my bag got lost both going to Spain and again on the way back. On a business ticket, that stung. I had a full day of important meetings and showed up without any of my stuff. Not great. Also, at Paris there was basically no one to talk to — just kiosks and machines and no real human help. That lack of in-person support left me pretty frustrated and confused about where my things were. Still, a few positives: I appreciated the seat and the quick boarding for business class, and getting to the meeting late but present was better than missing it. If you’re planning anything similar, a heads-up from me: pack a change of clothes and any essentials in carry-on, and save copies of itineraries and contacts on your phone. Ask your company to add insurance or tracking if it’s a high-stakes trip. I’m oddly upbeat about surviving the chaos — a bit shaken, a bit amused — but I’d hope for better luggage handling and more staff at airports next time. Overall, useful lessons learned and I’d fly again if needed, just a bit more prepared.

That baggage carousel moment you wish never happened

On-site

my name, address and phone were on the outside. So when someone suggested the tag fell off, I sort of laughed nervously. How does a tag fall off but the bag still get lost? That felt like the clearest sign of sloppy handling.
