ENCOUNTERS TRAVEL - Reviews and experiences

I recently booked a personal tour to Alexandria, Egypt with this company, and I have to say, I was really disappointed with the whole experience. When we arrived, they told us there were some changes to the plan, including swapping out our hotels for ones that were less convenient. It was pretty unsettling because we had no idea where we were gonna end up staying and they never gave us a new plan. So, we were left feeling really unsure about what was going on. To top it off, we had asked for a hotel downtown and instead got one outside of town, which wasn't what we had in mind at all for our trip.

Our experience with the Jordan Explorer package through ENCOUNTERS TRAVEL was honestly a letdown. We had some pretty last-minute changes to our hotel accommodations that ended up being a major downgrade. The air conditioning on our coach was on the fritz, and to top it off, our tour group was way too big. Our tour leader didn't really do much to address any of the issues that popped up. Plus, the different levels of accommodation caused a lot of wasted time with all the pick-ups and drop-offs. We were promised places like the Amman International and Petra Guest House, but we ended up with spots like the Sulaf Luxury Hotel and Petra Sella Hotel instead, which were definitely not up to par. The long bus rides in uncomfortable weather were draining, especially with more people than recommended in our group. We tried talking to the local agents about our concerns, but unfortunately our tour guide wasn't much help in finding solutions. Between the late pick-ups, subpar vehicles in Wadi Rum, and poor communication from our guide, we were left feeling pretty let down overall. It just didn't meet our expectations and we were all pretty disappointed and frustrated by the end of it all.
