Extras paid, extras missing

Service

the site looked fine and confirmation showed both extras, so I assumed it was handled. On check-in day I discovered my seat wasn't reserved; the airline wanted me to pay again. After a long call with customer care (agent Saloni eventually reassigned a seat after some back-and-forth), she even completed web check-in for me. The meal, however, never made it to my boarding pass, and the crew on board had no record — so no meal served. That was embarrassing in front of other travellers and frustrating given I paid in advance. I complained via phone and email to Cleartrip but got no meaningful fix or refund. Short version: service promise ≠ delivery. I'd try other booking sites next time.

A rocky start, but not the end

Changes

I paid AED 1680 like I was told, then ran into a snag. The rep, Muhamad Abdul (hope I got that right), said he couldn’t reissue my daughter’s ticket and told me to call Philippine Airlines. I did, PAL said only the agent can do it and even asked Cleartrip to call them — so I was stuck in that awkward back-and-forth. Frustrating, yes, and I kept wondering if I’d ever get it sorted. The good bit: after I pushed a bit and asked for escalation, someone else picked it up and actually took the extra step to call PAL. Not perfect, but that extra effort was a nice surprise and eased most of my worries.

Almost slept in the car — then things turned around

Service

phones, calls, kids, and one tense night in the car while we tried to sort something out. The point I knew I’d actually be okay was when a Cleartrip rep finally took ownership — found nearby rooms, arranged transport and got a partial refund sorted. It wasn’t instant, and I kept thinking “this shouldn’t have happened,” because the initial confirmation clearly didn’t match reality. But credit where it’s due: the agent stayed calm, communicated options, and stuck with us until everyone had beds. So, not flawless — inventory checks and faster response times would help — and I did lose a few hours and some sleep. Still, that moment when the alternate bookings were confirmed and the kids were safe in warm rooms made me feel satisfied. If you’re booking around busy dates, double-check with the hotel directly; and if things do go sideways, the support can actually fix it, even if it takes persistence.

Cancelled out of the blue — stressful but glad it ended up getting looked at

Cancellation

Overall, I’m relieved it didn’t stay a total mess, but man, what a rough start. I booked a round trip from Toronto to Mumbai on Nov 25 (needed to get to a family medical emergency) and got a confirmation email — then about five to six hours later another email showed the booking was cancelled, no reason given. That left me scrambling and pretty helpless for a while. I called the company and was told it was a “technical glitch” on the airline side; that sounded hopeful, except when I rang Etihad they had no record and said there was no glitch on their end. So, confused. I kept calling customer care and honestly didn’t get any clear answers at first — lots of hold time, repeating myself, that sort of thing. I’ve had worse experiences with other agencies, so I wasn’t completely surprised, but still, this was a high-stress situation. Eventually someone did escalate it and there was at least some movement (I’m really grateful for that — could’ve been so much worse). Still, the lack of communication and the initial cancellation without notice was unacceptable. If you’re booking something urgent, be ready to push for answers, but also know it might be possible to get it sorted if you keep at them.

Almost missed that small print

Service

I was standing in line for airport coffee when I opened the confirmation and nearly dropped my cup. It looked like an Emirates booking — logo, EK flight number, all that — and I booked it fast because we were travelling with kids and my lower back had been acting up, so comfort was a real deal. I’d had bad experiences before where switches and cheap planes meant pain and chaos, so I was careful but not careful enough. After I paid, the confirmation arrived with a big flydubai logo. Okay, not great. I called right away and asked, calmly but firmly, if they could move us to the Emirates flight before or after — same price, same day. The first few minutes were standoff-ish. Then the agent actually listened. They dug into schedules, called a supervisor, and after a bit — and maybe my slightly dramatic “I’m traveling with three kids” line — they shifted us to an Emirates-operated sector at no extra charge. Relief hit me like finally getting legroom. That was the moment I felt this was worth it. Not perfect, and it shouldn’t have been so tense, but they turned a near-miss into a decent fix. Also the price was reasonable and seats matched the description. I’ll use them again, cautiously, and keep a closer eye on the fine print. Slightly annoyed, mostly relieved.
