Weird thing — I almost bailed when I saw the make of the car. I’d been burned before by limo services that send whatever’s handy, so I booked nervously. The car wasn’t the showy luxury model I pictured (more like a very clean mid-size), but the driver was sharp, friendly and the ride was comfortable. For the return there was a brief mix-up with timing, they called and sorted it quickly. Not flawless, but honestly it worked — price felt fair too, and the driver had good local tips.

That arrival surprise

Late pickup, rude driver, decent booking system

the online form let me add the wheelchair and list baggage allowances, and the confirmation actually spelled out “4 bags per passenger,” which is why I went ahead. That detail was surprisingly clear — and that’s about the only thing that worked out. The rest was a mess. The driver showed up in a small Toyota Camry, not a van or anything that could handle the bags. My clients had three suitcases and the wheelchair; they ended up holding bags on their laps because there literally wasn’t room. The car was dirty — crumbs and wrappers in the door pockets, dust on the seats — and it was warm inside with no AC, so they were uncomfortable the whole ride. The driver was curt on the phone and acted annoyed when they were trying to find him in the terminal, which made them not want to say anything about the heat or the luggage. When they got to the hotel he pulled the luggage out and just left it in the street, then drove off. That felt really careless. I tried to follow up but ran into a brick wall: arrived on a Sunday, then the Monday after was a federal holiday, so no one picked up when I called. I did get an automated survey right away and when I said what happened I got an email promising customer service would reach out. Then it was radio silence for days. I called repeatedly the following week and kept being told someone would call back — I even got through on Friday to a rep named Joyce who argued that the invoice couldn’t possibly have said 4 bags per passenger (I’d emailed her the confirmation) and “forwarded” the file to a manager. After that, nothing. No follow-up, no apology, no refund, no real explanation. The company’s phone message claims they’re “world class”; that felt off. One unexpected thing: the booking interface itself was clear about the wheelchair option, which is why I trusted them initially — so I was surprised that the confirmation didn’t translate to actual service on the day. In the end my clients took a regular taxi for their return because they didn’t want to risk the same situation, and I advised them to dispute the charge. Bottom line — if you need reliable help with mobility or lots of luggage, this company didn’t deliver for us. It’s a shame, because the booking details gave me hope, but the on-the-ground experience and the lack of follow-up support made it not worth it.

A bumpy start, but we lived to tell the tale

it was a terrifying ten minutes that thankfully didn’t ruin the whole trip — we walked away shaken but OK, and the rest of our holiday actually turned out pretty great. I’ll explain how that happened, but right up front: if you ever get picked up and the driver starts lecturing you about tolls and tips before you’ve even buckled up, don’t shrug it off — pay attention, and keep your wits about you.

Quick booking process, included all fees

Booking was super easy when I called, all the fees were clear and laid out for me. The person I talked to even hooked me up with a discount and shot me an email to confirm my booking. On the day of the trip, our driver was right on time and ready to roll. The car was spotless and we got to our destination pretty darn quickly. The driver even helped us with our bags, making sure the ride was nice and easy.

Airport transfers in NYC

I recently used Carmel for airport transfers during my trip to NYC and let me tell you, they went above and beyond once again. I had used their service back in 2019 and was really impressed, so I figured I'd give them another shot this time. From getting picked up at LGA airport to getting to our hotel in Times Square, and then the next day going to the cruise port in New Jersey, Carmel really delivered top-quality service. Even though I saw some negative reviews, I just went with my gut and I'm so happy I did. We used Carmel 4 times during our stay and each time, they were perfect. They kept us in the loop with clear and timely communication, the drivers were professional and polite, and the cars were spotless and well taken care of. We never once had to wait around or stress about being left stranded. I'll definitely be using Carmel again next time. Thanks, Carmel, for always coming through with such excellent service!

Prepaid car service from airport to Manhattan Upper East Side and return

As a prepaid customer, I gotta say I had a great time with the car service from the airport to the Upper East Side and back. The drivers were super professional, quick to respond, and really polite, which made the ride super comfortable and smooth. What I liked the most was when the driver from the East Side to the airport took the fastest route without me having to say anything, they really knew their stuff and cared about my time. They definitely exceeded all my expectations as a rider.

Quick and helpful service for emergency hospital trip

I had to rush an elderly family member to the hospital, so we needed a car fast. Carmel showed up in just 15 minutes after I called and got us there quickly and safely. The driver was really kind and helped us get in and out of the car. Even though I'm getting paid to write this review, I still think Carmel is great and I'll definitely be calling them again in the future.

Visit to New York City

During our recent trip to New York City, we rented a car three times. Overall, it was good, but we had a problem with our second booking. The company team quickly fixed it by giving us a $12 credit for our third booking. We really appreciated the great customer service, it made sure we got around the city easily. If we go back to the city, we'll definitely use this service again.

Airport transfer JFK to NJ

I needed a good and cheap way to get from JFK airport to NJ. After looking at different choices, I thought I'd try Carmel. I gotta say, I was really happy with how the service turned out. The driver was super nice and professional, the car was clean and comfy, and it was even better than I thought it'd be. Booking was easy peasy and the prices were good, especially compared to Uber and Lyft. I'll for sure be using Carmel again for all my rides in the future.
