Gate confusion, small perks
Gate confusion, small perks
Communicationgate staff yelled updates in Spanish (she did her best, honestly), no clear bilingual signage, people milling about. They handed out €12 food vouchers — small relief, actually, enough for a sandwich, which surprised me — but still no real info for the English speakers. Hours later we tracked down a proper Iberia desk and got rebooked for the evening; a friend was told there were no same-day seats, so uneven treatment too. Plane itself was fine, just many hours delayed. Arriving in Madrid the baggage message showed "last baggage on belt" but nothing appeared; ten minutes later our bags rolled out — frustrating but at least not lost. Asked about hotel or accommodation because we landed late and had a train connection next day; got refused, which felt stingy. Overall avoidable chaos, mainly from poor communication and coordination, though the vouchers and eventual baggage arrival were small bright spots.
Left my bag, not my nerves
Left my bag, not my nerves
Communicationemails showing the wrong flight numbers, staff giving different instructions, and check-in taking forever because of errors. In Miami I got two conflicting messages about whether to collect my suitcase for a connection. I chose to leave it behind so I wouldn’t miss another flight. That was practical, but stressful. I filed a formal complaint later and they reviewed the wrong flight, so that didn’t help. What shocked me was the lack of coordination and accountability. On the plus side, one gate agent actually spent extra time walking me through options — small, but it mattered and was unexpected. My doubts before buying weren’t eased. If you’re solo and don’t want added stress, think twice.
