My friend texted me a link and said “you need this” so of course I clicked. The online photos made the Wellington look like a mellow, deep tone. In real life it arrived a lot brighter — almost a shout of orange. I was annoyed. I called customer service. The rep was polite but the manager wasn’t in until Monday. Classic. I braced for a fight about returns that their policy already makes awkward. Then I set the thing up anyway, mostly to get it out of the way. I put my old lamp and a couple of plants on it. And then — weirdly — it started to work. The colour bounced off the wall in a way the picture never hinted at. Not perfect. The finish has a tiny scuff on one corner and the delivery box was dented. But in that moment, arranging the stuff and seeing how the room warmed up, I felt satisfied. It’s loud but cheerful. Would I buy it again knowing the colour risk? Maybe. I’d still tell people to check in person or ask for a recent photo from the store first. Saves the surprise.
