Certificate saga, mostly sorted

Trust

I signed my son up for an online Harvard course on edX and paid CAD 299 for a physical certificate. I had that nagging doubt — is this legit, will the certificate actually arrive? We finished the course last month and everything seemed fine, until edX emailed that the payment "didn't go through". My bank statement said otherwise. For a few tense days I poked support, sent screenshots, waited, and yes, got a bit annoyed. Eventually the certificate did show up, a little later than expected and after some back-and-forth. Not perfect — support is slow and the price felt steep — but the end result worked out, mostly.

Free course misleading

Trust

The course said it was free, but really it was only short one-minute videos that were free. When I tried to delete my account, they told me I had to unlink my Google account first. But I couldn't delete my account because I signed in through Google. It feels like they're gonna keep my data forever. Both parties are scammers. If you're seeing this, you're awful.

Certification process, fixed exam deadlines, misleading information.

Trust

I think the certification process is kind of sneaky. They make you pay for the certificates, but then they set strict deadlines for the exams, so it's really hard to actually get them. And forget about studying at your own speed while juggling work - that's definitely not my experience.

Course completion certificate issue

Trust

I just finished a programming course online that's well-known. I bought a certificate but never got it. The customer service wasn't helpful at all, just gave me generic answers. I think this platform might be tricking people by using famous names to make money.

Waste of money

Trust

Stay away at all costs. This company is a total scam. They pretend to be affiliated with real universities to make their programs seem legit, but honestly, their boot camps are a joke. You're basically shelling out money for short videos and rushed class sessions where they just tell you to google the answers. The certificates they boast about are useless when it comes to getting a job in the tech industry. The career support they offer is a joke - just a basic job board and resume builder that you could easily find for free online. Employers know that Edx certificates hold no value, so don't waste your time or money here. Save your hard-earned cash and look elsewhere for a quality education.

Prepaid course scam

Trust

I was super pumped to take this course on electromagnetism, but then I got totally scammed! I finished the first part and was totally into it, but now all the other courses have disappeared. And to top it all off, no refund! Like, how is that fair?
