Mid-installation déjà vu with Renogy

Service

decent value, decent build, so that was a pleasant surprise. But the part that annoyed me (and this is the main gripe) was the repair/customer-service dance. For two weeks I was stuck in an online loop: I’d send a video, follow their tests, and then they’d ask me to check the same thing again or misinterpret what I’d shown. It felt like Groundhog Day, but with wiring diagrams. I’m a qualified electrician and a Chartered Mechanical Engineer, so I wasn’t exactly fumbling, and the unit is effectively new (bought six months ago but only fitted later). After countless hours of tests and messages they still wouldn’t give a straight answer about replacing the faulty unit. So yeah, parts are okay, price is reasonable, but if something breaks you’re in for frustration. I’ve already told a couple of friends to be wary — not rude, just honest. Won’t be buying from them again until their support actually changes.

Morning test that changed my mind

Service

buy if you do your homework and keep receipts. I’d tell friends to expect good performance, but to be prepared to push for service if something goes wrong.

Quiet turnaround on a messy battery saga

Service

a different engineer actually dug into the chemistry, explained the imbalance signs, and suggested a firmware tweak plus a replacement cell arrangement as a goodwill fix. It wasn’t instant magic, but the change was real and it felt like they finally owned the problem. What surprised me was that small firmware tweak made a visible difference — not something I expected to hear over the phone. So yeah, initial support was messy and the price is steep, but once someone who knew the tech took over, things improved. If you’re thinking about these batteries, keep records, insist on escalation if support stalls, and ask specifically about balancing behaviour. Also test right away and don’t accept vague answers. Bottom line: I almost lost faith, then a competent tech turned it around — that’s why I’m not totally negative anymore.
