Communication“in stock” didn’t mean what I expected. One unexpectedly good thing was that when an item did arrive it was packaged well and in good shape — small mercy. Overall I wouldn’t trust them for important orders unless they fix how they manage stock and communicate. I’d buy elsewhere next time.

Servicebuy if you do your homework and keep receipts. I’d tell friends to expect good performance, but to be prepared to push for service if something goes wrong.
Quiet turnaround on a messy battery saga

Servicea different engineer actually dug into the chemistry, explained the imbalance signs, and suggested a firmware tweak plus a replacement cell arrangement as a goodwill fix. It wasn’t instant magic, but the change was real and it felt like they finally owned the problem. What surprised me was that small firmware tweak made a visible difference — not something I expected to hear over the phone. So yeah, initial support was messy and the price is steep, but once someone who knew the tech took over, things improved. If you’re thinking about these batteries, keep records, insist on escalation if support stalls, and ask specifically about balancing behaviour. Also test right away and don’t accept vague answers. Bottom line: I almost lost faith, then a competent tech turned it around — that’s why I’m not totally negative anymore.

Communicationthe kit itself was meant for my campervan conversion so the alternator could top up the leisure battery (because I’m not about to sit in a cold van at night with a dead battery). Some of the Renogy bits I bought worked fine, honestly; they’re decent value. But the MPPT that wouldn’t charge from the alternator turned a weekend project into a two-week admin circus. The one thing I want to pick apart here is the communication — specifically, being told to use a “messages” tab that simply doesn’t exist in their service centre. I spent ages redoing tests, filming things, following step-by-step instructions, only to be told later to recheck stuff I’d already sent video proof of. It’s maddening. I’m a qualified electrician and a chartered mechanical engineer, so I’m not brand new to diagnosing gear, and I did everything they asked. Yet their replies often missed what I showed, or suggested fixes I had already performed. After they agreed to replace the unit and issued a returns label, they then threatened to close the case unless the unit was posted immediately — which forced that frantic Saturday run. They confirmed a replacement order a few days later, and then… silence. A week went by and the only update after I chased was “not yet shipped.” That’s the other thing: the systems and processes feel clunky, and staff — who I actually feel sorry for — seem undertrained or hamstrung by poor tooling. So, to be fair, when gear does work it’s fine and is good value; but when it fails you’re left twisting in the wind, wasting hours on diagnostics and messages that don’t actually resolve anything. I wanted a reliable setup for travelling and peace of mind; instead I got a lesson in stubborn customer service. Not a total disaster — the working products have been solid so far — but the warranty and support experience made me decide I won’t be buying from them again. If you’re buying Renogy stuff, hope it works out of the box; if not, be ready for a long runaround.
