Sneaky price gap
Sneaky price gap
PriceBooked through a broker, paid about £70 more than Hertz — car was nicer than expected, go figure.

Pricepartner added surprise fees and the company played clueless. Kinda sneaky, would warn.

PriceStanding at the airport counter in Toronto last week, I already doubted my booking. I feared hidden fees — and sure enough paid extra at pickup. Car ran fine, staff hit-or-miss overall.
Not worth the extra fee
Not worth the extra fee
PriceBooked a car for a three-week trip. I hesitated because the price jumped when I added a child seat. I used a third-party booking site. It added about $200. I thought they'd sort it at pickup. They didn't. The counter had no note about the seat. I showed screenshots to customer support afterwards and they refused to refund the extra charge. My doubts before booking turned out to be valid. I use rentals for family trips and school runs. Won't risk this again—too much fuss for something small (and important).
Car rental experience at a major airport
Car rental experience at a major airport
PriceMy recent experience with renting a car at a big airport was not so great. It was a lot more complicated than I expected, and the extra fees surprised me. I reserved a car to pick up at the airport, but when I got there, the rental company was really pushy about trying to sell me more insurance and charging extra for being at the airport. So, in the end, I ended up paying way more than I thought I would. When I asked for help from the rental company, they weren't very helpful at all and just said that everything was in the papers I signed. It was really frustrating and disappointing overall.

PriceThey were saying that the insurance was only for their own Autosistem car seats, not mine. Plus, they hiked up the price of the car seats on the bill from 76.80 to 119.00 euros. And to make matters worse, nobody even bothered to install the car seats in my car, and they refused to take any responsibility for it.
Confusing pick up no help, extra insurance taken

PriceIt was seriously frustrating trying to find that stupid shuttle bus! And then we had to get extra insurance at the car rental place, not cool at all, man.
Overpriced rental with bad service

PriceI had a really bad time with this rental company that someone recommended through a broker. They tried to rip me off a few times, and I ended up shelling out more money for things I didn't need. The broker actually sided with the rental company's sketchy ways, which was pretty disappointing. I'd say stay away from this broker if you want things to go smoothly.
Booked car for 6 days
Booked car for 6 days
Price
Hey folks, so I rented a car for 6 days with Rental Cars. Unfortunately, I lost my physical driver's license and could only show them a photo and digital version. So when I got to Italy to pick up the car, they couldn't give it to me because of the rules. It's a bit disappointing, but hey, rules are rules.
The really frustrating part is that Rental Cars only gave me back 10% of what I paid, and kept the rest without any explanation or giving me the car. It feels pretty unfair and sneaky, so I definitely won't be using them again. I recommend checking out a different rental provider for your next trip. Thanks, eh!

PriceI had a similar experience as others where I had to pay extra when picking up the car in Podgorica. The staff couldn't speak English and didn't explain why I had to pay more, which was frustrating. After many tries, I finally contacted someone from Rental Cars and discovered that the local agent had charged me for local insurance, costing me 577 euros. While Rental Cars offered to refund 80 euros for the insurance I bought through them, I think they should refund the whole amount because they work with dishonest local agents. Lesson learned - I won't use Rental Cars or booking.com for car rentals again.
Rental car booking in Dublin
Rental car booking in Dublin
PriceSo, we were over in Dublin and decided to rent a car, right? Well, let me tell you, it was a nightmare trying to give them our credit card for the deposit. They wouldn't take our Visa Debit card, and not even the credit card saved in the Apple Wallet was good enough. And get this, our friend's credit card got rejected too because they weren't the one who booked online. Like, seriously? And then, just to add insult to injury, we had to cough up an extra 380€ just to finally get the car. It felt like a total scam, like they were trying to pull a fast one on us. We had a couple more credit cards on us that could've worked, but nope, they insisted on that extra payment. Total rip-off, eh?

PriceI just went through a bad time with a car rental booking that I ended up having to cancel. According to their rules, I asked for my money back, but they wouldn't give it to me. The customer service person told me that the admin fee was just as much as the cost of the rental itself, so I couldn't get any refund.
Car rental experience in Warsaw
Car rental experience in Warsaw
PriceSo, I rented a car from Rental Cars at Warsaw airport not too long ago. When I got to the counter, they told me I'd have to clean the car myself before bringing it back or cough up an extra $25 for them to do it. This detail wasn't on the Rental Cars website, which I thought was pretty tricky. I've never had to deal with this rule at other rental companies. It'd be a good idea for Rental Cars to be upfront about this when renting from this specific company, "Panek."
