So those nagging doubts I had before buying — the ones about whether the “insurance” was any good — well, they didn’t go away; they were proven right in a very lousy way. I’m left annoyed, a bit sad for the missed trip, and annoyed again that the safety net was mostly a label. If you’re tempted by a last-minute deal, take this as a nudge to read the clauses like you mean it, or don’t count on nice surprises if plans go sideways.
