Last-minute mix-up, then sorted

Booking

keep screenshots and call right away, don't just rely on confirmation emails. Overall, annoyed at first, relieved in the end.

Almost gave up, but it worked out in the end

I’ll be honest, I had mixed feelings booking this time. We’d used the site twice before so I thought it’d be smooth, but when my parents (71 and 74) needed a weekend away and my mom ended up in hospital two days before, I was really worried. I tried to postpone and then claimed through the insurance with Europ Assistance (the partner), and at first it felt like hitting my head against a wall — asked for documents, sent them five times by email and once by registered mail, got cut off on the phone a couple of times, and some emails weren’t answered. Pretty frustrating. That said, after a lot of phone calls and persistence someone finally picked it up and sorted the claim, refund processed, so I’m relieved and actually kind of thankful it didn’t stay a mess. Would have liked quicker replies and less runaround, but the outcome made me glad we stuck with it. So yeah, doubts before booking were real, they mostly disappeared after the claim was settled, though there’s room for better communication.

Massage plans went sideways but hotel pulled through

Booking

offered alternate treatments and shuffled schedules where they could. That saved the vibe a bit, and the replacements were actually decent, not exactly what we wanted but pleasant enough. What bothered me more was that my partner and I couldn't get treatments on the same half-day, which killed the couple-relax plan. I asked the platform for a commercial gesture, got a reply pointing to the voucher fine print — that times are given at check-in and availability can change. Given the price we paid, I did expect better coordination. Room and food were fine. A little disappointed but grateful they tried. So yeah, lesson learned: call the hotel ahead or book the spa directly if it's the main reason you're going — beats showing up and finding out. Would I use the site again for last-minute spa bookings? Probably not. Still, we had an overall nice stay thanks to the hotel's effort, just a frustrating start.

A bumpy start, but it ended up alright

Communication

“Send an email,” “We’ll see.” The reply I got back even had some odd phrasing and a few mistakes, which didn’t help my mood.

Unexpected detour

Cancellation

30%, 55%, 75%, up to 100% if it’s under seven days. It read like a script and felt like a door closing. I tried to explain, I tried to show the paperwork, but their stance didn’t change. So those nagging doubts I had before buying — the ones about whether the “insurance” was any good — well, they didn’t go away; they were proven right in a very lousy way. I’m left annoyed, a bit sad for the missed trip, and annoyed again that the safety net was mostly a label. If you’re tempted by a last-minute deal, take this as a nudge to read the clauses like you mean it, or don’t count on nice surprises if plans go sideways.
