The remote that tested my patience (and patience won, sort of)

the mandatory hub. Didn’t think much of it until the bill came and I realised “universal” came with an extra box to buy. That hub thing deserves its own paragraph — it’s the reason the price jumps and also where most headaches started. Bluetooth gadgets were flaky, some buttons would just stop responding, and at first I couldn’t include devices in routines. So yes, frustration city. On the other hand (and this is the annoying, honest bit), when it worked, it was neat — the buttons are programmable and little shortcuts can be handy for evenings when I’m lazy. Took multiple tries and a couple of firmware updates before things smoothed out, which made me go from “this is useless” to “okay, that actually helps.” Customer support was slow and a bit evasive, but they did eventually point me to a fix that helped stability. My advice: don’t expect flawless out-of-the-box magic; budget for the hub, be ready to tinker, and check for updates. If you like fiddling and can live with the quirks, it’s usable. If you want set-it-and-forget-it perfection, look elsewhere.

the lock itself actually feels really nice in the hand. It’s got some weight to it, a proper metal heft, not that hollow plastic you sometimes get. When I first opened the box I spent a good minute just turning the knob, feeling the mechanism, and thinking, “yep, that’s got some quality.” The finish is smooth, the buttons feel clicky in a pleasant, not-cheap way, and the motor moves with a steady, reassuring sound — not too loud, not tinny. So on that front, I was pleasantly surprised, honestly happy about the tactile side of it. That’s what sold me first, before anything else: it feels like a product you can trust to do the job day after day.

Oh man, ordering from this company was such a nightmare! I waited a whole month for my order and kept getting told it would be here soon, but it never came. They just kept blaming "delivery issues" over and over again, it was actually kind of funny.

I recently bought a switchbot for my curtains, thinking it would make things easier for me. Sadly, it hasn't worked out as planned. One side is okay, but the other side just won't budge, no matter what I do. I spent a lot of time trying to fix it, but I couldn't figure it out. When I tried to return it, I was told they don't take back used stuff. The customer service person told me to try calibrating it again, but I've already spent 6 hours on this thing. I'm done. This product is not worth the money or the time.

I expect companies to keep their word and give good service, but that didn't happen here.

If you buy from this company, just a heads up that they have a pretty strict return and refund policy if you get a product that's not working. They'll ask for a video of the broken item before they give you an RMA, making things harder for you. It might be easier to skip ordering from them and go with a friendlier place like Amazon. Thanks, eh!

I bought a Starter Kit from this company recently and it was a huge letdown. The switchbot couldn't even switch a light switch, which was the main reason I got it. When I tried to return the product because they advertise a 30-day money-back guarantee on their website, their customer support was awful. They wouldn't give me a refund because I had opened one product in the bundle, even though the rest were unopened. I had to get PayPal involved and they wanted me to ship everything back to China, costing me an extra 30€ in shipping. Overall, it was a terrible experience and definitely not worth the money!

I just bought this gate that can also work as a universal remote control. Pretty cool, eh? And it comes with a motion sensor that can detect stuff from a good 25 meters away. I also got a door and window sensor for my bar area. Now, I'm using SmartBot to control my coffee machine like a boss. Everything is so easy to manage with the app, but the real game-changer is how it works so seamlessly with Google Home. These gadgets have totally taken my home automation game to the next level.
