the finish, the weight, the warm glow — really pleasant, honestly. But the one design detail that matters most for a cordless piece — how you recharge it — is a mess. The bulb is held on by a very strong magnet and you have to remove the bulb to charge the unit. Every time I tried, the bulb slammed against the metal inside the shade. I was careful, I really was, but after a few months the bulb shattered. I had to buy a replacement for $159 and when I reached out to Visual Comfort their reply was basically "it'll be 90 days because of tariffs" with no apology, no offer to investigate the design. That was disappointing. So now I take the top apart before removing the bulb, which is annoying but keeps me from breaking another expensive bulb. On the upside, the lamp itself is gorgeous and the light quality surprised me — better than I expected. Just be warned: looks and light are great, but the charging/bulb setup is a clear design flaw. I told a friend and my sister not to grab one until they fix that.
