I’ll be honest, I almost walked past these in the shop on Queen St. — they looked a bit chunky and, frankly, the price made me pause. A buddy had texted me a grainy pic saying “you need these,” and I was like, sure, whatever. So I tried on the Back-to-Berkeley III Leather WP more out of curiosity than anything. I was sceptical about the whole “waterproof” thing — been burned before by that claim — but figured, meh, try them. First real test was a muddy, rainy park loop a week later. My feet stayed dry, and that surprised me; like, pleasantly surprised. They did feel stiff at first, needed a couple walks to break in, and I noticed a tiny scuff after the second week (just cosmetic), but nothing that matters for hiking or daily slogging. Customer support was actually helpful when I emailed about sizing — quick reply, clear advice, no nonsense. Delivery was on time, boxed well. Price is a bit up there, but for the comfort and the fact they keep water out, I’m happy — feels like they’ll last. So yeah, my doubts melted away once I wore them in the rain. Would recommend to a friend — I already did, oddly enough.
