Birthday headphones, brilliant sound, awkward adapter drama

Service

the headphones are worth a look if you care about sound.
But then the silly bit: the set includes a BTD 700 USB‑C dongle, and we later found out there was no USB‑C to USB‑A adapter in the package. Her laptop is an older model with only USB‑A ports, so off we went thinking, easy fix, right? Not so much. Customer support’s answer was basically “read the manual” and a link to buy the BTD 700 separately for about $70. That felt odd — the adapter itself would cost a few dollars, but the company seemed content to point us to spend a lot more instead of offering a simple adapter or a one‑off part sale. Kind of a bummer after spending nearly a grand on the cans.
The surprising twist: despite the support hiccup, the soundstage and noise control on these things are better than I expected — that made the frustration less bitter, for sure. If I had one piece of advice: check your laptop ports before you order, and if you’re buying from them, ask explicitly about included adapters. I’d also tell Sennheiser (politely) to either include the little adaptor or make it possible to buy affordable extras directly — would save chances of disappointment.
All in all: fantastic headphones, clumsy support. We’re enjoying the listening, but the purchase experience could be smoother.
