Copper, rattles and a surprisingly decent fix

Product

here we go, another expensive gadget drama. I’d bought the Copper edition straight from the official site because, well, I wanted the nicer finish and figured buying direct would save me headaches later. Fast forward a few months and the rattle was consistent, like something loose inside the ear cup. Not a deal breaker for sound, but annoying, especially on my commute and during Zoom calls when background noises matter.

Birthday headphones, brilliant sound, awkward adapter drama

Service

the headphones are worth a look if you care about sound.
But then the silly bit: the set includes a BTD 700 USB‑C dongle, and we later found out there was no USB‑C to USB‑A adapter in the package. Her laptop is an older model with only USB‑A ports, so off we went thinking, easy fix, right? Not so much. Customer support’s answer was basically “read the manual” and a link to buy the BTD 700 separately for about $70. That felt odd — the adapter itself would cost a few dollars, but the company seemed content to point us to spend a lot more instead of offering a simple adapter or a one‑off part sale. Kind of a bummer after spending nearly a grand on the cans.
The surprising twist: despite the support hiccup, the soundstage and noise control on these things are better than I expected — that made the frustration less bitter, for sure. If I had one piece of advice: check your laptop ports before you order, and if you’re buying from them, ask explicitly about included adapters. I’d also tell Sennheiser (politely) to either include the little adaptor or make it possible to buy affordable extras directly — would save chances of disappointment.
All in all: fantastic headphones, clumsy support. We’re enjoying the listening, but the purchase experience could be smoother.

Bit of a rollercoaster buy

Service

I first saw these at a friend’s place and he kept nagging me to try them, so I picked up a couple of TW sets and the IE300. One pair died right after warranty, the other TW I accidentally washed (my bad), and the IE300 failed while still covered. Support eventually exchanged the two in warranty but the whole process was awkward — I had to pay return postage, zero updates, and then suddenly a replacement showed up with no explanation. Delivery itself actually worked out in the end, which I’m kinda relieved about, but the customer service was messy and slow. Told my sister about them, told her to wait a bit. Happy it resolved, annoyed by the runaround.

Warranty reassurance — and then the weird saga

Returns & Refunds

It actually felt good for a moment — the moment the agent told me to send the 450BTs back under warranty. I thought, okay, problem solved, that’s the kind of support you want. I’d been enjoying them, then one side went mute and I wasn’t thrilled, but that little “we’ll repair it” line gave me real relief. I sent them in (took me a bit to get around to it), and then, well, the wait was long. When the box finally showed up again I ripped it open hoping for fixed headphones and instead got basically the same thing — one side still dead. I emailed, they said send them back again. Frustrating, sure, but I do appreciate that they accepted the warranty in the first place. If you’re dealing with this, keep your emails and insist on a temporary loaner — that would’ve saved me a lot of hassle. Overall I like the device and felt reassured at first, but honestly I wish the follow-through had matched that first helpful moment. Little annoyed, but still hopeful they’ll sort it.

Half-opened box after six weeks

Price

well, at least it’s wrapped neatly. I’d sent in my HD650 because one side had a flaky connection — cable to an internal spiral, simple enough, I thought. I found the repair option on Sennheiser’s support page and had even tipped a coworker to use their service before I sent mine in. The turnaround time was slow, emails were sparse, but they did send the official estimate: replace everything for €210. That felt odd — replacing both drivers, cable and all pads when one driver was fine — but okay, maybe they found other faults I couldn’t see. What really rubbed me the wrong way was the handling of a refusal: pay €50 diagnostic fee and either pay to get the headset back or they’ll recycle it. Charging you to say no felt like a heavy-handed policy. Delivery itself wasn’t terrible — the package arrived intact and surprisingly came with the pads replaced and a tiny handwritten note from the tech. That little note and the neat re-foam actually surprised me, in a good way. Customer service? Patchy. Helpful on paperwork, quiet on the actual decisions. Price? Rough compared to what I paid years ago for the set. In the end I paid the €210 reluctantly — it works now, feels fresh, but I’d warn others: try sourcing parts yourself or watch a guide first. Saves money and hassle, and you avoid that awkward diagnostic charge if you change your mind.
