A light switch moment

Product

a mix of colour ambience in the living spaces and white ambience in the bedrooms and hallway. First night, I went straight for the colours just to mess around. The blues and ambers looked great, kinda fanciful but in a cozy way. That playful “oh neat” feeling turned into real usefulness when winter hit and dusk shows up at 4:30.

Living room lights with a mind of their own

Product

switches will sometimes flip lights in other rooms, or a light will just stop responding until I flip the breaker at the circuit box. Yes, go to the breaker to reset a smart bulb; not ideal when you’re sore and trying to avoid bending. I did manage a workaround by setting up a small Raspberry Pi to act as a bridge to HomeKit — if a one-person hack can make it reasonably reliable, I don’t get why the official bridge can’t.
There are moments when it’s fine — controls are smooth and the automations are neat — but those moments are punctuated by random failures and long waits for support. If your mobility depends on consistent lighting, be cautious. If you’re tinkering and patient (and can set up a Raspberry Pi), you might limp along. Otherwise, this whole setup feels like it needs a serious firmware/QA focus before I’d recommend it without caveats.
