Came through after a faulty part

Service

I was a bit annoyed when the pressure dial on the hose head popped off after a few months — I use it daily to water the vegetable patch and wash muddy boots, so it felt like a pain. Dug out the receipt, saw the five-year warranty and emailed Gardena UK with a photo. They asked for proof, I sent it, and within a couple of days they said a replacement was on the way. New spray head showed up today via FedEx. Not thrilled it broke, but the way they handled the swap was quick and painless, so I'm pretty satisfied now.

Backyard epiphany

Communication

Halfway through watering one evening I realized I actually liked these reels—after a quick bodge-up they worked well. I've owned three hose trolleys for a season; two developed a broken connector where the hose meets the frame. I tracked down the right part on their site but there was no way to buy it, so I emailed with links and photos. No reply, not once but three times. The trolleys themselves are solid, well made and easy to roll, so once I repaired one they felt worth it. At first I thought the build and winding were great. Still, customer service needs a lot of work — which annoyed me.

Backyard lifesaver, eventually

Service

There was a week when dragging my old hose felt like an extra job I did not need. I got this reel mostly because my lower back was acting up and I was moving houses — needed something that would make watering easy. I hesitated; read mixed reviews and worried about that five-year warranty not meaning much. Bought it anyway. For two years it was great, smooth and no fuss. Then it started to stick. I emailed, sent videos and the invoice — took a few tries but support finally picked it up and sent a replacement part, which fixed it. A little annoying to deal with, sure, but now it works like new and I’m actually glad I bought it.

Quietly impressed with the delivery

Delivery

Weird start — I was half expecting a tangle of tubing, but the box arrived neat and on time. Delivery tracking was clear and customer support answered a quick question about a connector (no drama). I used the micro-bore bits to water a few newly planted specimen trees and for the odd container on the patio; everything clicked together with just scissors and a bit of fiddling. I was a bit sceptical about the plastic lasting outside, but given how easy it is to set up and how well the support team handled my question, I’m actually happy to stick with it.

Still works, but parts are a nightmare

Service

Right when the trolley started weeping I thought, not again — I first noticed these at the garden centre years ago and even tipped my neighbour to buy one. The unit itself is solid, when it runs it's smooth and makes watering easier, so credit where it's due. But getting replacement bits felt impossible, like people at customer service had never heard of spares. I was pretty sceptical about buying a new one, worried I'd be tossing another thing in the landfill, yet after fiddling and finally finding a workaround it’s been fine. So yeah, good hardware, awful support — that mix drove me crazy but now I can at least use it.

Not great, but usable

Service

I'm not happy with the unit, though it mostly works for basic watering. I bought the Gardena system because I needed automated irrigation while I recover from a bad back and couldn't be lugging hoses every few days. The pressure reducer didn't actually settle near the 1.5 bar it was meant to, so connectors kept popping off and I had leaks. I called customer service, spoke with Libby and explained the situation; she was polite but getting them to accept my claim dragged on because they needed an Amazon invoice. Downloading the invoice was a pain and took ages, and since then it's been radio silence. It's not a total loss—system does the job when I babysit the pressure—but support and follow-up were disappointing and I feel out £130.

Replacement in two days — honestly impressed

Returns & Refunds

Right away, they came through — I'm genuinely impressed. I bought the auto hose reel in 2021 and used it every season since, so when the bracket started to fail this spring I was bummed but not shocked. I emailed Gardena and they replied fast, asking for photos and some details. I sent everything in and within a day they said it couldn't be fixed and to file a warranty claim. I did. Again they answered in hours, confirmed replacement would be free and then — surprise — a new unit arrived two days later. No long fights, no back-and-forth, just straightforward help. First impression back in 2021 was good and this follow-up only reinforced it. Happy and relieved that a company still stands by its warranty after four years. I'll definitely look to them first for future garden gear.

Stayed put at last

Product

Halfway through rinsing the car with the brush attachment, I felt that familiar tug — the hose loosening at the connector, and there I go peeling tape off and chopping a bit of hose, same old routine. I was sceptical when I tried this Gardena-style connector; thought it might be just another temporary fix. But the moment I pushed it on and later scrubbed the wheel wells hard, the hose stayed put. The metal compression ring feels solid, and the connector sleeve extends about 3.5 cm up the hose, so there’s really nothing left to wriggle free. I use this hose setup for washing the car, watering the front beds and filling a small kiddie pool, so it gets daily use and some rough handling. Small things still annoy me, but this connector is one of those rare parts that actually does what it promises.
