1-800 CONTACTS - Reviews and experiences

Okay, so I actually saw these contacts through a friend’s Instagram story and told my sister about them — figured I’d try, seemed simple. The website gave a clear price that said it didn’t include discounts or insurance, and that matched the email I got. Then I jumped into the chat, chatted with Jamie who confirmed my insurance would cover $150, and Amanda (a supervisor) said the same on the phone. That was a nice surprise, felt reassuring. But then the final invoice showed a much higher total and suddenly insurance only covered $70 — and when I asked them to look into it they didn’t really follow up, so I cancelled within minutes (it was Labour Day) and they claimed the order was already out. So frustrating, and it left a bad taste. Still, the initial chat was fast and polite, which I appreciated — just wish the follow-through matched that quick start.

The prices from this company are way too high and their price matching policy is super confusing. I was just talking to a customer service rep and I showed them proof that other places are selling the same thing for way less. I even sent screenshots of the other website showing the lower price but 1-800 CONTACTS still gave me a much higher price. They just said something vague about their policy but didn't really explain.

I was so let down by my experience at this company. They say they'll beat any price, but when I found cheaper prices somewhere else, they wouldn't match or beat them. They tried to say it was some "Special Google" pricing, but it was obviously just an excuse. You're better off checking out other options like EZ Contacts or Contacts LensKings to save yourself time and money.

I ordered some contact lenses from this company recently, and I gotta say, I was pretty bummed out about the currency confusion. I live in Canada and didn't realize the prices were shown in USD, which ended up costing me a lot more than I expected. I think it's super important for businesses to be up front about things like that so customers like me don't get caught off guard.
