Quick note: Shaw Academy has many review pages: BritishReviews has 8/10 stars, TrustPilot has 3.5/5 stars, AllReviews has 2.2/10 stars. Do the math.
tldr: Please, stay away from this company. Do what you must to avoid giving them your credit card information. If you did and they still haven't debited from you, cancel the card or they will debit you soon out of nowhere.
I'm afraid the only positive thing I could say about the company is that the lessons were okay. But the negative outweighs so much my opinion on this dishonest company.
I signed up for a free trial. Like so many other companies, you have to input payment information to pay by the end of the free trial (which is four weeks). The first and second day I was okay taking the classes like a good student, but by the end of the second day, I noticed I was debited three times from my account the amounts of 39.99 and 44.99 twice (in dollars). I added two and two and realized I had clicked on two popups that appeared suddenly on their website. I was half-sure I clicked an x on them instead of the one-click purchases, so I thought wrong of myself but I kept going. The debit hurt, don't get me wrong, but I thought it was my mistake. The third day while in class I see a debit for 199.99, and I immediately closed the window, cancelled my subscription, wrote to customer service for a refund and called my bank to cancel my card and made a claim while I waited for Shaw Academy to respond., which happened the next day (which is today) and I cannot begin to describe how my blood boil during that phone call. I'm usually civil, I don't use profanity, and I've never, absolutely never tried to be disrespectful to anyone even on the phone. But when the representative outright said "refund is not an option", I was just about to eat my lunch and the sight of food repulsed me instantly. I was in a 25 minute call with this man who claimed he's the manager, that I cannot escalate the case to anyone else, that condescendingly, insultingly and dishonestly said I approved all those payments, which I did not, and refused to give me a refund for $+300.00 which pains me largely, yet he offered the lifetime access to the premium subscription. Their con goes in trapping people in the free trial which no one suspects a thing, get as much money from you while you don't realize they're debiting from your account, and when you realize this and escalate the situation, they give you a lifetime access you don't want because you just want your money back and because you don't want anything to do with these scammers.
I filed a claim with my bank hoping they let me in on something from here to 6 months, that Shaw Academy goes bankrupt or that it's identified as a fraud company. And beware, if they do, they might open up again with a different name, so I suggest from now on everyone reads reviews BEFORE giving them your personal information.
Another detail: ShawAcademy invites specific people to do reviews on TrustPilot and they claim they have good reviews, which in reality they have 3.5 stars, and TrustPilot added a claim to their own site that ShawAcademy is being investigated for their fishy reviews. One review that had 5 stars seemed extremely disturbing as it chastised people for not knowing what one-click purchases were, while in reality I know now lots of people click the x sign on the pop-ups that appears in the website, like me, and still get debited unwillingly.
I'm afraid that after all this I've read so many reviews in 2 days that I wish I had seen before thinking I could trust Shaw Academy, and they all concur with everything I just said. I learned my lesson and will always look for reviews before attending another scam like Scam Academy.
