Decent but uneven

Good overall, a bit uneven. Friend tipped me. Instructor clear but rushed, glad it helped.

Quick helpful support team

Rainy Monday delivery — I started using it last week and the help centre replied right away; package arrived on time, support was friendly and fixed a small setup hiccup, so pretty happy overall.

Small, weird win

Started yesterday, skeptical — then, weirdly, relieved.

Evening save

skeptical, but their team helped, though.

Quick win with Noura

Started today; knew at once when she explained.

Midweek delivery note

Opened it that afternoon, tried it immediately; delivery slow, service helpful.

Streetcar study buddy

I found a Russian tutor for my commute. Short chats, messy but actually fun.

Quick win

Honestly, loved it — I tried it yesterday, platform easy, tutor was solid.

Sorta impressed

Unsure before buying, thought it'd be slow; using daily for work, Walter's support helped, relieved.

Evening clarity

Right after class I relax — their clear notes and patient pace help my evenings, grateful.

Quietly confident

I'd go back — she settled my nerves at my first session last week, kinda rough but solid.

Evening study fits

Booked tutors for weeknight lessons, love picking someone who actually gets my accent and goals, schedule's flexible but sometimes they cancel though

Minute rescue

Was nervous to order after past slow help elsewhere. Clicked wrong, messaged support, fixed in 15 minutes, doubts gone.

Italian lessons that actually fit my days

I signed up pretty skeptical — figured it might be another flashy app that doesn’t stick. Turns out the tutors are solid and I’ve been squeezing lessons into my lunch breaks and on slow evenings, so it actually fits my routine. Not every teacher was perfect (some profiles are a bit hit-or-miss), and booking can be fiddly sometimes, but customer support sorted a couple of glitches quickly. I’m surprised at the steady progress — not flawless, but useful for real life.

Friendly tutors, awkward platform

Tutors actually helped me — great ones. Platform, though, made pausing my subscription a pain (second time it got weird). Glad it worked out eventually.

Embed trick saved the audio

audio was silent in Chrome tab when playing Tube videos inside the classroom, and honestly I almost gave up. First support agent couldn't help and just told me to file a technical feedback — that was annoying. Then Justin stepped in and actually suggested using the classroom's Embed feature on the Whiteboard, and after testing I could finally hear the Tube audio. So yeah, there are proper experts at Preply but they're not always the first person you meet. Would be nicer if the simple workaround was documented up front. Still, I’m glad it got fixed — thanks Justin, saved my lesson.

Found via a colleague

I first found Preply after a colleague showed me the site; I've been tutoring there since 2017. Their support actually answers fast — helped me fix payments once — so I stick with them, relieved.

Mostly great, with small glitches

Totally worth it overall, even with the occasional hiccup. I signed up because I moved provinces and needed to brush up on French for work (and my chronic back pain makes in-person classes a no-go), so online one-on-one lessons were perfect. I've tried a bunch of tutors for French, Spanish and a bit of Dutch — some were brilliant, others a little meh (scheduling or connection flaked once or twice). Prices are really fair and booking/rescheduling is simple. I love meeting native speakers and getting little cultural nuggets, even if lessons aren't always spotless. Good value, honestly.

Tutor was great, policy wasn't

the tutor was excellent, but the app's refund policy left me stuck and honestly a bit annoyed. I booked eight sessions up front after the app recommended him and a friend had tipped me off — felt like a smart move. After five lessons he suddenly couldn't continue for personal reasons. I asked for a refund on the three unused lessons and was denied because their rules say once you've used some lessons there's no refund. I get that companies need rules, but it felt unfair since it wasn't my fault. I reached out to support, we went back and forth, they stuck to the terms. I'd still use the platform for learning, tutors are good, but don't buy big packs unless you can take the risk. Would have preferred a partial refund or credit at least.

Gets students, but flaky

anonymous reviews pop up and you can’t reply, the Super Tutor badge seems handed out for reasons you don’t control, and trial lessons are pushed so hard teachers end up doing free sessions. Not everything’s terrible — I earned decent hours — but support is weak and the teaching materials aren’t great. Heard too many stories about sudden bans and frozen payouts; that part makes me nervous. My advice: use Preply for leads, keep backups, save records, and don’t put all your eggs there.
