Investment Experience with Masterworks
Investment Experience with Masterworks
TransfersMy experience with Masterworks was really disappointing. At first, they were super helpful in helping me figure out how to invest my money in fine art. But as soon as I wanted to sell my shares, everything went downhill. They sent me an email saying my trading wallet was inactive, so I couldn't sell my shares. I tried many times to fix it, but it took a frustrating 8 months to solve the problem. During that time, I only got generic emails that didn't really help, which made me wonder if they were legit. It felt shady and made me think about filing a formal complaint. After a lot of effort, I finally sold my shares, but the whole experience was far from satisfying and left a bad taste in my mouth. I would tell anyone thinking about investing with Masterworks to think twice and be careful.
Art investment
Art investment
TransfersI invested around 20k in art and now it's only worth like 20% less, not cool bro. It's hard to sell it quickly because the market is slow. I have to rely on Masterworks to not screw things up, and they still make money even if I don't, not fair. Maybe I'll just stick with boring old ETFs next time.
Initial investment
Initial investment
TransfersI gotta tell you, investing with that company was a total disaster. I couldn't get my money back when I needed it because of their lack of liquidity. The fees were way too high and just made things worse. And don't even get me started on all the lies they told me about their services. Do yourself a favor and steer clear of that place.
About Masterworks
Masterworks is a company that offers individuals the opportunity to invest in shares of fine art. Founded in 2017 by CEO Scott Lynn, it operates by purchasing artwork, then creating an LLC for each piece and filing an offering with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, allowing investors to buy shares in the artwork, much like stock in a company. This model aims to make investing in high-value art accessible to a broader range of investors, beyond the traditionally wealthy. By providing this platform, Masterworks allows for the democratization of art investment, offering potential financial returns while also engaging with the cultural and aesthetic values of the art world.
