Topshop is a British multinational fashion retailer known for selling clothing, shoes, makeup, and accessories. Established in 1964 as Peter Robinson's Top Shop within the Sheffield branch of Peter Robinson, a now-defunct department store chain, it became a standalone retailer in 1974. Initially targeted towards young women, Topshop grew to have a significant presence on the high street with multiple stores across the UK and international outlets. It gained a reputation for offering trendy, affordable fashion and for its collaborations with high-profile designers and personalities, which helped it to appeal to a broader demographic. In recent years, Topshop faced financial difficulties, culminating in the Arcadia Group, its parent company, entering administration in late 2020. Subsequently, ASOS, an online fashion and cosmetic retailer, acquired Topshop in February 2021, marking a new chapter in the brand's history as it transitioned to an online-only model.
