Newspaper subscription dissatisfaction
I've been reading this one news source for over ten years now, but I gotta say, I'm pretty disappointed with how their search function is turning out. At first, it was super handy for me to find what I was looking for real quick. But as time passed, it just started acting up more and more, getting all unreliable and annoying to use. They say they use Boolean searches, but honestly, that's not what I'm seeing. Like, I tried looking up someone with the initials "A.B.C. Jones" and the whole search just froze up on me. And when I search for something like "Smith & Jones," I get a bunch of results with the words in the right order but not together, so it's a real challenge to find what I'm after. This inefficiency is not only wasting my time, but it's also making me feel like my subscription isn't worth as much as I thought it was. I've been a loyal customer for so long, I was expecting better performance and user-friendliness from this service. It really bums me out to see it going downhill like this.

I just wanted to share how thankful I am for the amazing help I got from someone at my local newspaper. The whole subscription renewal process was a total letdown. A while back, I had this $7 subscription that got me everything I was looking for on the site. Eh, so like, don't even bother with this online newspaper subscription. It might seem all easy and whatnot, but watch out for their sneaky moves. I thought I was just trying out a free trial, but then they conveniently "forgot" to cancel it when it was done. Ended up with extra charges during a tough time. When I asked them about their shoddy record-keeping, they had no clue what was up. Made me wonder if this whole thing is even legit. Total scam, if you ask me!

I was just reading this article on a news website and I thought it was interesting, so I decided to sign up for a month to read more. But then I found out that my subscription only let me see stuff from that one newspaper, and if I wanted to read other papers, I'd have to pay even more. This online newspaper archive service I tried was definitely the top choice out of the three I tested. The website had lots of content and easy-to-use search functions, making it simple to find what I was looking for in the archives. But the downside was I couldn't narrow down my searches to get exact results, which caused some mix-ups between similar terms like "THE SUPREMES" and "THE SUPREME COURT." Plus, I was bummed out to find out that the feature to save articles for later was no longer an option. To top it off, the customer service was pretty much non-existent, leaving me feeling unsatisfied with their lack of help and support.
Trial cancellation issues
I've tried so many times to cancel my 1-week trial after getting charged, but turns out I wasn't even eligible for it. I sent a bunch of online help requests and tried calling, but didn't hear back from anyone. It's just not cool or professional.
Scammed free trial
I also fell for this free trial for a recipe and ended up getting charged $74.95 for a 6-month subscription without even realizing it!
Subscription Search Experience
The search experience when trying to subscribe to this newspaper was not great at all. At first, the keyword searches gave me some helpful info, but that didn't last long. Every first result for my searches was totally unrelated to what I was looking for. Then, I got bombarded with supposedly relevant results, but they were all locked up and I needed to pay more to see them. This trick is sneaky and dishonest, making me feel really disappointed as a customer. It's frustrating to see a company that should be focused on giving reliable and easy-to-access information resorting to these shady tactics.
