Weirdly, I’ve been stacking odd bits of recycling — Pringles tubes, beauty empties — thinking I’d drop them off in one go. Then I found out I had to look up separate drop-off info for each brand, drive to different collection points and basically spend an afternoon hunting sites. I get the idea and I want to recycle, but the delivery of the program and the customer support about locations is messy. It’s useful when you care, but not realistic for everyday life with kids and work.

I was scrolling our neighbourhood Facebook one evening when a friend posted about this cardboard return box — I’d been meaning to do something about all those snack packets. At first I winced at the price, but I decided to try the smallest box and drop it off at the local hub. The moment I handed it over and the volunteer said “thanks,” I felt this weird, quiet satisfaction — like finally closing a chapter on endless bins of junk. It’s simple, it works, and I actually told two neighbours about it the next day, and felt kind of proud and relieved.
