The pile that disappeared

App & Portal

Right when I thought I'd given up and my hallway looked like a soft‑plastic shrine, the email said 'we've scheduled pickup' — and I laughed out loud. I'd been hauling tubs and grocery bags for months because curbside won't take that stuff (and my lower back was not impressed), so I needed something that would just... work. The site was confusing at first — I circled the map like a tourist — but the folks answered my questions and the driver grabbed the box without me having to awkwardly explain my hoarding habit. That quiet moment after they left? Pure relief, proud even.

Found-it-at-last

App & Portal

Halfway through sorting a pile of snack wrappers and an empty Ferrero Rocher box, I was this close to quitting — the site sent me round in circles. I wasn’t convinced at first, honestly. After about twenty minutes of clicking I finally landed on the right drop-off info and thought, well, let’s try it. Walking in with that silly little box felt oddly satisfying; staff were friendly, the place was straightforward, and for the first time I actually felt like my effort mattered. So yes, the website could be way clearer (seriously, simplify it), and I wish there were more local collection points, but that moment when it all worked out turned my scepticism into a proper, quiet win.

Confusing recycling option

App & Portal

don’t expect an easy solution — the site just made things more complicated. I first noticed the Terracycle logo on a Pringles can and mentioned it to my partner, thinking great, another way to recycle. Turns out the website is hard to navigate and full of tiny caveats, so after poking around for a while I was no closer to knowing where to send anything. We already have several municipal bins picked up regularly, so the idea of separate bags or collections for each brand felt over the top. I did, oddly, find one clear drop‑off point for a specific product which was a surprise and actually somewhat useful, but that was the exception. Mostly it felt like clicking in circles, reading small print, and wasting time — which is annoying because we do try to recycle properly. My partner has decided to avoid certain products now, just to not deal with it, which is probably the worst outcome. Short version: promising idea, poor execution, and not worth the hassle unless you really like admin.
