Halfway sold

Quality

Was browsing Instagram and signed up after a friend nudged me. Took three beginner art classes and literally knew I was sold halfway through the second—clear, no fluff, exercises that actually teach you something. Uploaded a practice piece and got surprisingly useful feedback from the teacher. Quietly impressed; I even told a coworker to try it.

Late-night creative boost

Quality

I'll often dip in before bed to watch a quick demo — sketching, watercolours, even a bit of knitting tutorials. The lessons are in bite-sized steps, so it feels doable, and there’s always something for my skill level. It’s easy to pick up and go, I use it for daily practice and it actually keeps me excited, not bored most days.

Mid-course surprise

Quality

try a few short classes first, you’ll see if it fits.

That one-stroke moment

Quality

mid-class, painting a little leaf, the instructor said 'try this stroke' and I did it — it worked. Not all online art classes do that; a lot of in-person ones I've tried were fancy demos where you watch and feel lost, but here the lessons are practical, step-by-step and leveled so I can start at beginner and not panic. I like that teachers tell you what supplies they're using and offer reasonable alternatives (I never have the exact brush they use, who does?). Joly Poa — yes, I have a favourite — breaks down techniques like brush control and wet-on-wet so you can practise, not just admire. The learning paths that string lessons together sold me; one thing leads to the next, no gaps. It's relaxed, chatty, friendly feedback, and I had a piece I was proud of. Nice.
