ReliabilityAfter fixing up my computer on August 30, 2023, I found out that I couldn't activate my Power PDF Standard 3.x software anymore. Turns out the activation server for the product got shut down, and it's built right into the software. The old serial number just won't cut it to get it working again. I got in touch with support, gave them my serial numbers and hardware IDs, and explained the problem, asking for a new activation key. Their response was that the software I have is OEM, so I need to contact the printer manufacturer. The printer folks sent me back to Kofax because they can't make a new activation code - it's all dependent on Kofax or Nuance, the original makers before Kofax took over. Now, thanks to reinstalling, I gotta scrap the software since Kofax/Nuance won't let me activate it. I'll be on the hunt for another company's product and definitely won't recommend anything from Kofax to my clients, even though you can still buy the software on places like eBay and Amazon.
