I didn't expect to be left standing in the lobby. We had an appointment on a Saturday and I stood there, said hello — three, maybe five minutes — and nobody came. One staff member heard me and then started helping someone else like I wasn't even there. It felt dismissive. My eyes have been acting up and I have MS, so I was already nervous. The chairs were hard, the lights too bright, and it just made everything worse. My husband and I walked out and booked at another clinic. At first I was annoyed and a bit skeptical about their whole process, but the new place actually sorted things quickly, so now I feel better about switching.

Turned out I didn’t need a whole new sub. I ordered a replacement amp module — cautious, not expecting miracles — and plugged it in. The bass came back tighter, deeper and cleaner than I remembered. It fills the room without being boomy. Feels like I got a small upgrade rather than a band-aid. Shipping was smooth. Service was helpful when I asked a question. If your vintage sub croaks, check for parts first. Might save you a bunch and keep a favourite alive.

I don't know why, but I always test a new sub on Blade Runner 2049 — it's become a bit of a ritual — and for five years my PB-4000 never let me down. It’s a proper beast. It shakes the room in a way that's pleasing, not terrifying. Tight with music, absolutely terrifying with the right movie cue. So when the sound turned scratchy and then… wrong, I felt properly gutted. Weird to be so attached to a lump of speaker, but there you go.
