Not what I expected
Not what I expected
ServiceI walked into the mall shop on a random afternoon, not really sure what I needed. The first staff member I met was brusque. Short answers, zero patience. It felt awkward. Later I saw the same person speaking harshly to a couple of kids. That stuck with me. I told the manager. Still, I needed a putter for my daughter’s lessons, so I hung around. Then Robert showed up. Calm, actually listened, asked simple questions and didn’t make us feel small. That was the turning point — the moment I knew I’d be okay. He let my daughter try a few swings right there, gave practical tips, and recommended something that fit her size and our budget. Now she uses it at home and at her weekly lesson, and honestly it’s been great for her confidence. Not perfect overall. The first interaction left a bad taste. But the helpful follow-up and the way Robert handled things made the purchase feel fair. I’d go back, but not without some hesitation.
Paperwork gap after a smooth in-store buy
Paperwork gap after a smooth in-store buy
CommunicationBy the time I left the store I figured the worst was done — I’d been wavering about ordering online because of past issues with missing docs at another retailer, so I asked the clerks to place it for me in-store. That part went fine, staff were straightforward and got me what I wanted. The doubt I had was mostly about the online side and paperwork, and unfortunately that didn’t fully go away. At home I opened a chat to request a formal invoice for expense reimbursement. The rep was polite but the answer felt like I was imposing, and what I got back wasn’t the proper invoice I needed. I even asked about cancelling and was told a “remorse period” had expired — apparently 30 minutes, even though I placed the order about an hour earlier. That’s frustrating and probably means extra hoops with my employer. So yes, I’m grateful the people in-store were helpful and the purchase itself was fine, but the online documentation and policy bits left me wanting. From now on I’ll do the whole thing in person if I can.
Yellow balls and awkward moments
Yellow balls and awkward moments
Serviceshould I call first, should I trust the site? In the end I decided to trust it and went in. While rifling through the ball display I accidentally dropped a box and, yeah, it opened. I was crouched picking them up, a little embarrassed, when this manager — Steve — came barreling over real quick. He didn’t ask if I was okay or if I needed help, he just asked in a loud way if I was trying to move balls around to take same-numbered ones together. I said I’d dropped the box and was picking them up, and that I was actually looking for the yellow box the site had showed. I tried to give him a chance to rephrase, to be polite — I honestly did — but he doubled down and said “a lot of people do it so,” like that excuses being accusatory to a customer. People nearby were looking over, and I felt that flush of “uh-oh” and decided right then I didn’t want to buy anything there that day. I handed back the socks I’d picked up, said something about being a frequent shopper but that I wasn’t coming back because of how he handled it, and left. So, did my doubts about trusting the website disappear? Sort of — the yellow box was there — but my doubts about in-store treatment didn’t. I’m actually kind of glad it happened because it clarified where I’ll spend my money from now on; Carls Golfland and the new PGA Tour Superstore in Novi are getting more of my visits. If I had one tip for others: call ahead if it’s a specific colour or limited stock, and if someone accuses you out loud, stay calm and walk away — you deserve better service.
Almost bought everything, then nothing

Pricewasted time, got fitted for clubs I couldn’t buy at the advertised discount, and the manager didn’t seem to care I was a lost sale. On the plus side, the fitter’s actual work was solid and the demo clubs were great to test, so I did learn what I want next time. But as a buying experience it was disappointing and a little baffling. I’ll probably take those notes and go somewhere else where the discount rules are clear up front.
