Misplaced tracking and slow refunds — not ideal
Misplaced tracking and slow refunds — not ideal
Returns & Refunds
the tracking later showed “Shipment Halted. Package damaged. Notifying Sender,” and because UPS still had custody, I figured the seller would just start a refund. Nope.
CPO’s position (their customer service told me) is that they won’t issue a refund until either you file a lost-item claim with UPS or they physically receive the damaged item back. That sounds reasonable on paper, but it ignores what the tracking actually said — and the fact that UPS wouldn’t let me file the claim online because of the weird status. I ended up stuck in limbo waiting for UPS to find and return the thing, which might have taken ages, especially with the “operating conditions” delay they showed. I called CPO a few times; the reps were polite and patient, but their policy is rigid. It felt like they were waiting to be paid back by UPS before they’d do anything for me.
I’m not saying the product itself was bad — when I finally got things sorted (via my credit card company jumping in), the item worked fine. So the product is okay, support staff are friendly, but the process? Clunky. If you buy from them, be prepared for slow answers and to chase UPS yourself. Also, if someone tips you to buy from CPO (like my buddy did), ask specifically about shipping/return timelines for heavy items — it will save you headaches.
Would I recommend them? I’d say: buy only if you’re comfortable with the risk of a complicated return and slow refunds, or if you can pick up locally. There are definite frustrations here — the tracking mess and the refund policy are my main complaints — but the end result was a working product, so it’s not a total disaster.
Reconditioned sets cost me more trouble than they should
Reconditioned sets cost me more trouble than they should
Returns & RefundsI hesitated before buying these reconditioned three-tool kits. The price was decent, but the photos and descriptions made me uneasy. I figured reconditioned items are fine — saved a bit, took a chance. On arrival, each kit had one tool that didn’t match the pictures. Two of those sounded off too, like something was loose inside. So my doubts didn’t evaporate — they got louder. I called customer support. First rep said she’d check with a manager and call back in 24–48 hours. That came and went. I called again and got the same answer. Eventually they suggested I drop the faulty tools at a local service centre and contact DeWalt to swap the mismatched pieces, and threw in a $50 credit for the inconvenience. I didn’t buy the swap story and asked for a return instead. They issued an RMA and sent UPS labels. I mailed everything back and tracked the package to their dock. Then silence. No confirmation, no “refund on the way” email, nothing on my bank statement. After pestering them by email, they replied that they’d submitted the refund request and it should take 3–5 business days. That window passed. I’m now looking at disputing the charge. The working tools were usable, and when something is reconditioned that’s expected, but the mix of slow service and poor communication made the whole thing a pain. If you buy reconditioned, take detailed photos on arrival, insist on written timelines, and be ready to push for your money back. I wanted this to be straightforward. It wasn’t.
