Quick payout, odd verification

Checkout

I hesitated before trying this. I sold a gift card because I needed some cash, and after reading mixed feedback I decided to give it a go. The setup was straightforward. I filled in some basic info, chose PayPal and paid a one dollar deposit to start the order. First impression was neutral — nothing flashy, just forms. Then I waited for the review. The site said one to three days. The thing that made me actually satisfied was when the payment showed up a few hours later. That was the moment I relaxed and thought, okay, this works. Not perfect though. The phone verification step was odd. It asked me to verify and then displayed phone numbers of relatives, which I have no idea how they pulled up. Minor red flag. Overall it did what I needed. Fast payout, simple process, a tiny bit creepy with the verification. I’d use it again, but I’d watch that verification step carefully.

Strange verification loop

Checkout

they asked for ID, took $1 from my bank, then tried to pull another dollar, then the website says the transaction didn't go through and now wants a credit card. Mind you, I already gave the gift card number. There's no chat support, which was frustrating — I kept looking for someone to ask, but nothing. I added a throwaway credit card because it had a few dollars on it and I plan to replace it later, and then they asked for more verification: pick the right phone number from a list. Problem is, my current AT&T number wasn't even there, only old or unfamiliar ones, so I couldn't get the code. Long story short I cancelled. What stuck with me was the phone-number step and the lack of live help; that felt unnecessary and a little shady, not to mention wasteful of time. I'd warn others to check what phone numbers are on file first, or avoid using them until they fix support and verification.

Tiny scare, happy ending

Service

they could improve packaging so cards don’t get mangled in transit, but overall I’m happy they took responsibility and fixed it without arguing. So yeah, glad I stuck with it instead of starting a big chargeback fight. Would use again because the service recovered the situation and that counts for a lot in my book.

Counterintuitive payout, clunky process

Service

no free-text phone entry, only a list. Weird.
I had to contact support to move things forward. The support interaction wasn’t terrible in tone, but it was slow; it took days for anything to happen, and things were left hanging more than once. When they finally “resolved” it, the payout arrived in the form of a prepaid Mastercard. The problem was, nowhere before activation did the site make clear what that card actually was or what limitations it had. It was described as a payment option — implied to be equivalent to cash — and I assumed I could use it like a normal debit or credit replacement. Not so.
Once I activated the card (which you’re forced to do before you can really see details), it turned out the card was restricted to online purchases only. That detail matters a lot if you’re trying to pay a bill or deposit funds. I didn’t find that restriction on the payment-selection screen or in any obvious FAQ prior to activating. So the “payment” felt misrepresented; that’s my takeaway. I ended up hunting around and found a workaround suggested on a Reddit thread, which let me use the card to pay the bill on the creditor’s website. That’s on me for improvising, but it’s also on the vendor for not being clear.
Customer service was another sore spot. Calls got the usual help-bot routine initially, then a seemingly polite human who didn’t actually follow through, and social-media outreach produced radio silence after the problem was explained. I told each person I spoke to exactly why I was unhappy and how the process could be less confusing. No concrete fixes were proposed, only generic reassurances. That’s frustrating in a low-key way — you get the sense they’re monitoring reviews and replies, but not fixing the underlying UX issues.
On the plus side: the end result did, eventually, let me pay what I needed to pay, and that has value. On the downside: it was inefficient, took longer than advertised, and if my biller hadn’t accepted the online payment trick, I’d likely still be stuck. For anyone else thinking of doing this: read the fine print closely (if you can find it), assume the prepaid card may have restrictions, and be prepared to push for help. A simple improvement would be letting users type their phone number, and making card restrictions obvious before activation. Small changes, big difference.
Emotionally, I felt more annoyed than angry — annoyed at unnecessary friction and at support processes that don’t resolve things promptly. I’d use a competitor next time unless these specific issues are fixed. If you must do it here, don’t assume “prepaid card” equals plain cash; it doesn’t always.
