Finally sorted, but it took a while
Finally sorted, but it took a while
ServiceI remember opening the box and thinking "ok, that’s odd" — two lamps, no bases. I first saw the lights on Ambiente Direct’s site after a coworker sent me the link, and I ordered because the design was exactly what I wanted. First few weeks I emailed back and forth, got the usual "we’ll look into it" and then radio silence. After about nine months I stopped expecting anything, then suddenly in September I got an order confirmation for the missing Kundalini base — that was the moment I actually felt satisfied, weirdly. It arrived, fit fine, and everything finally looked right on my end. I still had to chase the Foscarini base; that one took longer and there were times I thought they weren’t even trying. So yes, relief when the first base showed up, and honest — that’s what changed my mind. I did tell a neighbour about the lamps along the way, but warned them about the shipping hiccup. Emotionally, it was a ride — annoyed turned relieved. Company could be clearer and faster, but when they follow through, it does make a difference.

Servicethe ordering process could be clearer, and customer service has ups and downs — some impatient agents, some helpful ones. Still, I'm kind of glad it worked out rather than getting stuck in limbo. Price felt fair for what you get. If you order, be ready for possible hold times and check tracking often, but don’t assume it’s lost right away. All in all, surprised in a good way by the end — grateful it finally landed on my doorstep and that at least one person on the team actually fixed things when it mattered.
Lamp, sideboard and a long wait
Lamp, sideboard and a long wait
Servicea pricey Louis Poulsen lamp stopped working about ten months in. It’s under warranty, and the manufacturer replied quickly, saying I needed to go through the retailer. I sent photos and four emails. Four. Crickets for weeks. When I finally called, the rep sounded like they’d been asked the same question a thousand times and told me warranty processes “can take a very long time” (their words). All I wanted was a simple confirmation that my claim was received. Was that too much? Apparently yes — automated systems, they said, so just wait. It was infuriating and also a bit helpless (I have a broken lamp and receipts and nothing to show for it). On the brighter side, after persistent follow-up and the manufacturer nudging them, the warranty eventually moved forward. It took months, and I had to chase the retailer repeatedly, but the lamp is now repaired under warranty. So one concern resolved — slowly, and with a lot of my time spent getting there. The other problem is still ongoing: a sideboard and two floor lamps were supposedly dispatched and DHL’s tracking said “delivered,” but not to me. Turns out it went to an address in Germany, not to my place in the Netherlands — yes, that happened. DHL and the retailer kept passing responsibility back and forth; phone waits were long, and some reps were brusque. So there’s money tied up and items I don’t have yet. Long story short: they have a great selection and decent prices, but customer service and delivery are hit-or-miss and require persistence. If you buy, expect to chase them if something goes sideways. It’s not all terrible — the product quality can be good and the warranty can be honoured — but be prepared for friction and slow responses.
