impulse over a proper test. When the boxes arrived I kept hoping my doubts would be unfounded. They didn’t disappear. The bowls look fine in photos, but in real life the base is rounded so they won’t sit flat inside the heavier dishes I use as weights. I couldn't tape them down either — the tape just wouldn’t stick to the material. I tried different tapes, pressing hard, even folding the rim a bit, but no luck. Another thing I didn’t fully think through beforehand: the opening is narrower than the old foam bowls we used, so the cats’ whiskers hit the sides and most of them backed away. A couple still ate, but the shy ones wouldn’t touch the food. That’s been the worst part — on a limited income I’m already juggling costs for food and medicine for these animals, and having to toss bowls (and the food that went uneaten) is frustrating. I did like that they were compostable and not styrofoam, and that shows someone’s thinking about the environment, but design matters just as much as material. My advice to others: test a single box before committing, and don’t assume the pictures tell you everything. To the maker: give them a flat bottom or a texture that tape can grip, and a wider rim for whisker comfort. I’m not angry, just disappointed — a good idea that fell short in execution, and now I have to start hunting for another solution.

The bowls I got were supposed to be good for the environment and break down easily, but they were no good for the stray animals outside. The shape just wasn't right, and the cats couldn't eat from them properly. I had to spend more money and time trying to find something better.
