Hometown grapefruit surprise
Hometown grapefruit surprise
CommunicationRight in the middle of unwrapping, I noticed the crate label said Florida. I’d picked this because the website made a point about Rio Red and Texas farms — wanted a little hometown flex for my sister’s birthday (born and raised in Texas), so yeah, instant eyebrow raise. I called customer service and they were polite but basically told me Texas fruit is phone-order only, which wasn’t mentioned online, and they’d refer it to marketing. Not great. But the fruit? Thick skin, easy to peel, heavy with juice, bright and a bit tart — perfect spooned over yogurt the next morning. I was half annoyed, half oddly pleased. They should be clearer about sourcing, but the grapefruit itself did what I hoped.
